For those of us with HTC Wizard/Cingular 8125
For those of us with HTC Wizard/Cingular 8125
For those of us with the HTC Wizard clones, we know that the signal and battery strength does not work over bluetooth with the HFL.
However with this extension you can.

It DOES cost $15 but you get a 30 day trial and it works perfectly. Simply just install it on your device and VOILA, signal and battery strength on the MID.
Hope this helps some others here.
Thanks

I have tried the jetwaremobile Bluetooth Extensions, and they seem to work fine for fixing some of the display problems. (NOTE: Don't use the Beta extensions, they're buggy!)
However, the jetwaremobile Bluetooth Extensions don't do anything to fix the bad Bluetooth connectivity issues I have seen every day with my 2004 TL and my XV6700 (aka, PPC-6700 / Cingular 8125/ HTC Wizard).
Has anybody found a proven solution to the bad Bluetooth connectivity between these phones and the Acura TL?

I have heard rumours that the HFL module in the '07 TL is different than the '04, but I don't know for sure.
When I called JCI (the Acura TL HFL manufacturer) yesterday, I was told by the rep that the HFL modules have not been updated since they were introduced in '04. The rep told me that the XV6700 (and the 8125/Wizard/etc.) are not on the "HFL Approved" list because of their instability with the HFL Bluetooth stack, and that nothing can be done on the TL HFL module to work around the issues.
Of course, if someone has experience that supports changing out to the '07 HFL module, I'd be very interested!

i have a 05 TL and a cingular 8125 with the jetwaremobile extensions. i have had a couple little blips with the connectivity, but nothing serious. i think once the phone didnt connect right away, but normally its fine and certainly hasnt happened enough to bother me. however, the jetware is not perfect.
the signal strength does not match up perfectly - when my phone has no service, the car still shows two bars. the battery life indicator seems a little more accurate, but its hard to say because it doesnt change very frequently.
it is arguable whether or not the inaccurate displays are better than nothing. and i dont really know how much benefit there is anyway - when the phone doesnt have a signal, the voice command tells you there is no service, and my phone is usually plugged into the car charger, so i dont really use the battery meter.

I have had the 8125 for a about a week and both before and after installing the jetwaremobile extensions, the phone has been very good with the HFL. As good and possibly better than the S710 it replaced. It connects faster when I receive a call. The only thing that doesn't work right is call waiting, but oh well.

I have the T-Mobile MDA, which is the same hardware as the Cingular 8125 (aka HTC Wizard). I have no problems getting HFL to work with the phone, especially once the JetWare extension is installed, but I can't get Acuralink to work with the phone. Has anyone gotten the Cingular 8125 to work with Acuralink? If so, can you tell me how you accomplished it? Thanks in advance!

Acuralink is a separate feature from HFL--Acuralink sends diagnostic messages about your car to the Acura server. I'm not entirely sure what else it sends, but you can find more information about Acuralink on the Acura web site. While HFL just works with calls to and from your phone, Acuralink uses your phone's data connection (via GPRS) to the Internet. I own an RDX, not a TL, so maybe only the newest TL cars have Acuralink available.
Yes, you are right I do not have that feature in my 2006 TL. However, have you tried creating a new incoming port under bluetooth settings for the Acuralink to send data to the phone?
I have the Cingular 8125 and the '07 TL, with jetware extention installed, no problem with connecting with HFL, and do get battery and signal strenght indicators.
Two issues - one, if my wife gets in with me, her Moto V551 (my older phone) usually seems to connect before mine, even though I set up mine first. Therefore I have to say "next phone" to get it to link to mine. Anyway to get it to link to mine first?
Second, (and much less likely) any way to get it to show the signal strenght and battery info all the time in the MID? I hate that I can't have that info if I have the odometer up. (one of the extreamly few and minor things I don't like about the car - overall LOVE the car though!)

I'm not 100% sure about your first issue. I avoided that problem in my TL I by not pairing my wifes phone.
As for getting the signal strength to display on the MID all the time... the only way, that I know of, for it to be displayed all the time is for you to select the "HandsFreeLink" page on the MID - but then you won't be able to see your odometer.
This is the best website I've found for downloading roms. http://www.xda-developers.com/
You can download carrier specific versions but I usually go with a "cooked"
version.
Here's another good MDA resource site: http://www.howardforums.com/forumdis...0&daysprune=30

Has anyone had it where they answer, then the phone takes a while to let you talk? It will answer, and i can hear them, but I have to wait like 2 or 3 seconds before they hear me.
Also, anyone had it where you answer and there is no sound? They can hear me, but they're hearing me through the phone's mic on the phone itself. My phone won't let me hear b/c I'm still connected to the car, so I have to turn of bluetooth, and use my actual phone. I notice this happens most often if I turn on bluetooth after the car is already started. If BT is on before I start the car, I don't have the issue.

Got it... yes, I do know the site well, though I don't usually use the "cooked" ROMs just becuase they can be a bit buggy some times and I have a lot of software for my work and don't have the time to keep re-loading, etc. Oh well... since mine works fine with the jetware software, I'm happy for now. Thanks for the info though!
