Navigation Having Some Issues

So I just got a 2006 TL (New). Originally I checked the version in the car and it was Orange 3.50. The dealer told me he would get me the updated DVD (which I think is 3.60 for that car). After we got the car he told me he couldn't update it because the new ones didn't work (since they were white). My problem is that where I live (Arlington, VA) the map doesn't seem to know that an on ramp to 66 and takes me on horrible routes to go anywhere that involves a highway. Anyone have a suggestion? Should I complain to the dealer? Call the update line? I don't particularly want to pay $180 for an updated DVD on a brand new car. Thoughts?

Your dealer is wrong.

The newest navi dvd for the '06 TL is indeed 3.60, but the disk is still orange.

Check for yourself here: http://www.acuranavi.com

Print it out and show it to your dealer. Good luck!

Edit:
The latest navi disk for the '07 TL is 4.55 and it is white. I think your dealer is trying to stick a disk from the '07 to an '06. This will not work since Acura has updated the system for the '07s.

That's what I thought. I am going to make him follow through and get me 3.6. Thanks.

Just a thought here. Check your routing method. If you have "Minimize Highways" selected the system will do just what you described.

Also, if you use the "Show Routes" option and then select the one that minimizes toll roads, highways, etc. then the option you choose will be your default routing method whenever you put in a new destination until you change it manually.

Hope this helps.

If you live in northern Virginia, don't buy the V3.6 upgrade........it has major mapping problems in reference to I66 (the road doesn't exist withint the beltway).

+1. I went on a long drive tonight to see exactly what it does. And it is quite depressing how poorly this thing functions in the Arlington/NOVA area. On about 50% of my tests I could have picked a better route by picking a random road than the navigation system did.
