Tablet Integration Setup

I have a pretty tall order for my non-navi 08 TL, but I am about ready to pull the trigger on this setup. I am thinking of purchasing a nexus 7 32gb with wifi and connecting it to an iSimple connect ISHD651

http://www.amazon.com/IPOD-ANDROID-INTER-W-03-11-HONDA/dp/B00C5UH696/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381931557&sr=8-1&keywords=isimple+ISHD651#productDetails http://www.amazon.com/IPOD-ANDROID-INTER-W-03-11-HONDA/dp/B00C5UH696/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1381931557&sr=8-1&keywords=isimple+ISHD651#productDetails

This way I will be able to stream audio over bluetooth into my factory stereo over the XM channel that the iSimple plugs into. The iSimple will also be able to charge and control the tablet (only change the track) with the steering wheel controls!

Finally I am looking into purchasing an OBD2 reader to pull real time data from my ECU and display it on the tablet using a paid application called torque.

I do want to keep my HVAC controls so I am thinking about re-wiring them to the clock display as per this thread:
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthr...ht=navi+tablet

So my question: Is there a more efficient way to do this? I don't care about the audio panel that I lose but I need to keep the HVAC information. This is a long shot, but do you think that the OBD2 scanner will also pull climate control data and I can just display in on the tablet also???

I have not bought any parts yet, when I figure out the setup and the rewiring I will post pictures and try to make a DIY!

Anything is possible but honestly I think you would have to see how the application is set up and would have to talk with the developers. IMO its more trouble than to just re-wire the HVAC info in place of the clock. Regardless GL and post if you do find a solution.

You think it would be easier to rewire the climate control LCD panel to the clock panel than to just get real time data from a scanner? lol I am not sure I am that confident in doing that even though I hava a guide, not to mention everyone says the panels are fragile as hell.

You are going to replace the colck and put the sub display there. Yes it is fragile but thats because some cut them instead of un-soldering them.

I just thought of a better idea, couldn't I just buy the HVAC info panel made for an 08 navigation? Do you guys think that it will work correctly?

My bad bro I posted the wrong link

https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-audio-bluetooth-electronics-navigation-94/ipad-mini-install-%2A%2Apics%2A%2A-876736/

This link here we spoke about it I just cant remember what page it is on. I think it started at page 3. I too wanted to see if the sub display from a navi work on a non navi, but I decided a different route.

Thanks! I actually came across that convo earlier today and I PM'd swoosh asking if it ever worked. I think that would be a great solution and I can keep the information from both screens! Only problem is the price of the display itself...holy balls, that tiny screen is way too expensive. Another option I found would be to relocated both screens down to the little pocket next to the shifter, obviously you lose that storage area but that is no big deal to me.

IMPORTANT!
I just realized that my 08 HVAC screen is setup waaay different than the older one you guys have, it has a compass and larger icons, I think that maybe it would be too big to fit in the top part above the vents

I guess I am stuck moving it somewhere else or using the navi info panel...need more monies.

Yeah you have 2 options either up top or down below. If it doesnt bother you to lose the storage space below go for it.
