Tablet Integration, or navtool?

Ive been reading a lot of different threads on the tablet integrations and navtool. I read on some of the threads that the NavTool route is old news and the tablets are the way to go now. I have questions regarding both. First off if I did go the navtool route, i would still need a grom or some other device to play music through right? With the tablet i would have to get a plan with the tablet to be able to use most of the apps right?

This is a good question. I'm wondering the same thing myself. I would possibly like to go the tablet route but I don't want to tank the value of the car. I remember when i was pricing used ones the stock nav made it jump a couple K...thats my only concern

yes.
if you get the navtool, you would need some way to out put the sound. so, yes you would need some sort of hardware like the grom unit.

the only reason to go with the navtool would be if you dont care about a high res screen. the stock screen is HORRIBLE. watching movies on it is VERY painful.
also, it's more cumbersome, as you would have to purchase a dvd player and carry around Dvd's.

RX world, you will not tank the value of this car as these cars are getting VERY cheap now. $10k will get you a TL with nav.
plus, if you have a TL now and are thinking about these kinds of mods, you probably wont sell it.

I've been HEAVILY researching NavTool and have come up with a solution. I am going to go with the Android Mini PC route vice hacking at my new TL Type S (Recently bought) which is less invasive.

BUY:
1.)$200.00-VIDEO INTERFACE
2.)$ 50.00-ANDROID MINI PC
3.)$ 3.00-RCA TO SPDIF CABLE
4.)$ 5.00-HDMI TO RCA CABLE
5.)$ 6.00-HDMI CABLE
6.)$ 2.00-AUDIO Y ADAPTER
7.)$ 3.00-HDMI ADAPTER
8.)$ 3.00-SPDIF AUDIO CABLE
9.)$ 15.00-MICRO SD CARD
$287.00-TOTAL
NEED TO RUN:
1.) HDMI CABLE - 15FT
2.) SWITCH CABLE - 15FT
4.) AUDIO CABLE - 15FT

Everything else will be terminated in the trunk. I think I'm ready to attempt this. *HOPEFULLY*

You can either get a data plan for the tablet or get a wifi hotspot thing from you cell phone company and keep it in your car. I just use my tablet for the "torque" app to have some extra engine gauges, and I watch movies on it. I used to use it for music but its just easier to use my ipod, and it holds more music
