I'm doing something a little different if you want ideas.

I'm doing two 15s infinite baffle (only $333 to your door for both) so you get amazing sound quality and you don't lose your trunk space.

I'm pulling the trigger on the 16th of this month either on the DLS Gothia 6.3 or the DLS 3-ways. So far I haven't seen anyone with this setup in a TL.

I'm doing an MS8 to tie it all together.

I like JL's new XD amps for their extremely small size.. They should easily fit under the seats.

FI Q and ID Max are the SEX! for sq setups.

IHC- You ever gonna get those AE's in? Lol. I feel like I've been waiting years bc I want to see them, hear the review, etc. Seems like an interesting approach and if they sound they great while freeing up damn near the whole trunk...count me in.

They're "supposed" to be in on the 1st of next month. It seems like an eternity. According to everyone who's run them, they're supposed to be some of the best SQ wise. I feel like a little kid waiting and looking at pictures of them everyday lol.

I meant to say "Dyn" 3-ways, not DLS.

You can fit small amps under the front seats sometimes if you don't want to look at them in your trunk.

That picture that I posted is a 12" FI Q in a fiberglass corner box. It is 1.2 cu ft minus sub displacement. I used Polyfill in there to expand the effective volume on the box.

You could put that Q in a box that is 14x14x16, or even smaller. Have your installer build you one. They are cheap, easy to build and nearly impossible to get wrong for the experienced. The installer might be able to configure the size to fit in your trunk in one place better than another.

Don't buy this one because you can probably do better with custom built, but here is a representative item:

You're going about things wrong.

do not buy rears & don't buy some pos amp to power the sub.

I would keep the stock speakers rather than use any of those. Save your money for some Image Dynamics CTX65s and an amp to drive them. You can keep the stock rears for a LONG time.
http://www.woofersetc.com/p-6201-ctx...er-system.aspx

As for a sub amp, look for some better quality used stuff on your local craigslist. Take your time and you should be able to find a good deal.

If you still need a new amp, then check out some Hifonics or MB Quart - not great, but better than what you listed. The Hifonics will be slightly overrated from what I have heard - the MB Quart should be near rated power:

ok thanks I'll get the Sundown amp, it was my first choice back when I began this project, a quick question though. Why shouldn't I replace the rears, will they be able to stand strong in comparison to the image dynamics in the front and not be drowned out by the sub ?

Get a PDX 1.1000 for the FI and stack it. They are kinda expensive though.

unless you are keeping the 5.1 in the car ditch the rears and spend a little more on front stage.

how are my mids and hi's gonna sound if i dont have rear speakers? sounds like bass overkill. If i was to keep rears, would those cadence speakers do the job?

Subscribed to this thread, I was really planning on getting some ID components I hear only great things about them. Good luck on your setup. As I will soon be working on something myself.

I ran the CTX65s for a couple years and they're very good speakers. For the price, I don't think a whole lot can touch them. They will take a lot of abuse because I abused them with more than 150 watts and sometimes full range. The tweeters are nice but they can get pretty harsh at high volumes. Some have said it's due to the crossovers so if it's possible to go active, I would do it.
