subwoofers cutting on and off

My subwoofers are currently cutting on and off. All the speakers are working but the bass is cutting in and out randomly.

What could this be? Help me out please.

First we need more info on your system if we are going to try and evaluate the situation you're having. Such as amps, wattage, subs, Head unit, processor if any, volume level it's cutting off on, etc....

So you're saying that you're set up is your stock deck then it goes to your amp then to your subs and that's it? I doubt it. Help us help you by being more informative. For instance... If you say "It cuts off at all volume I am pretty sure."... Why am I not convinced? Cause otherwise you would have said "no sound at all"...

Im sure your issue is different because there is so many variables but i just had an issue with the 90amp fuse on the power wire coming from the battery getting loose at random times, it turned out to be melted a little bit making it loose. Put a new fuse in and haven't had a problem since. You should also check to see if your amp has power next time you lose bass.

I wiggled my fuse under the hood. It fixed it, then it started again. Obviously this is the problem. Do I replace it? or take it apart and clean it?

good job dave.
this is the first step in problem solving.

if you can find the source of the problem you can now fix them.

Dave, what does it usually mean when you wiggle wires and suddenly all your electronics work?
you're gonna have to use your head on this one!

*light bulb* The wires are loose!
Go back over your wires and make sure everything is tightened. make sure the contacts are clean and securely connected to the positive battery. Next, look at the fuse. make sure both ends of the power wire(going into the fuse and going out) are properly touching the contacts inside the fuse. Tighten it. next go to your trunk and make sure all your connections to your amp and sub are tight and are properly connected.

Dave, theres a button at the top of the forums.. it says Find new post.
and it does exactly what it says it does.

So I can see every new thread or bumped thread that appears since I last visited.
I can assure you that you are not being followed.

Also, you dont have to clean it. just make sure all your connections are tight and are properly connected. Fuses either work or they don't. they have a filament just like a light bulb. if the filament burns out, then your fuse is burnt. What you described by wiggling the wire sounds like a connection is loose.

And I am in my office busy making money as well. Please try again!

Narrow it down to:
a)power
-check to see if your amp either has a fan or led so you can tell it has power.
-next time it cuts out, look in back to see if fan or led is running
-if running/on see section b
-if not, check power, ground and signal wire
b)line in
-if power on and no sound, you have a signal problem
-what is your source?

PM/message back or post your findings an it'll help everyone troubleshoot your problem
