Question HFL Voice Recognition - 07 TL Type-S

Is there a way to calibrate the voice recognition with HFL? Sometimes, especially on Zeros and 4's, it just completely screws up phone numbers. And yes, I have windows and sunroof closed, vents pointed down, fan at lowest setting, etc.

For example I might say "425-253-2168"

And it'll reply "893-484-9278" WTF? How did you even get THAT from that number?

I saw a couple threads about HFL upgrades for '04 model year TL's, but nothing about the 07 and newer.

As an interesting side note, my TL-S was in the shop for a few days for some body work and I rented a Kia Soul (The only thing Enterprise had with bluetooth) while the TL was away and I hate to say it, but Kia's BT implementation and voice recognition made my TL's look pitiful. When I'd hop in the car, it would automatically download my iPhone phone book. While this was mildly annoying . . . after 30 seconds of driving, the Kia would say "Download Complete", the Kia ALWAYS had the latest version of my phonebook and when the car was turned off, the phonebook was deleted. Plus it ALWAYS recognized voice commands regardless of window position or fan noise. It never once missed a command. It was pretty impressive for a car that cost half what mine did . . . the only complaint I had is that the volume was wayyyyyy too low even cranked to max to really hear anyone due to the road noise . . .

J,

I don't think there is any calibration for the Type S. Every once in a while, mine does the same thing. It's interesting about the Kia Soul-love the hamster commercials though.

Try rattling off the numbers-- speak quickly, and don't bother to turn towards the HFL.

My HFL works perfectly when I rattle off the numbers, but misinterprets numbers and words if I speak slowly or make any effort to enunciate or talk loudly towards the mic.

Speak at normal speed. If you speak overly slow is when it tends to mess up. Also make sure fan isn't on max and there isn't much in the way of other back ground noise like wind or other cars/trucks passing by with your windows down.
