Subwoofer noise???

I currently had audio system replaced. I have a JL10W6 and a JL 500/1 with a capacitor. I was wondering if it is normal when you slow down for a stop light or stop sign and the sub woofer makes a low deep tone?? During the installment I had him unplug both noise cancellation mics. I don't want to insult the guy but it kind of bothers me. Please help if you got any info.

I'm having the same problem, did you ever get things figured out? We are still getting the low frequency bass noise from the aftermarket subwoofer at idle/rev... I'm 100% sure it doesn't have anything to do with the ANC system because it's been completely removed. I've also tried relocating the ground already once and it hasn't solved.. Also relocated the speaker wires (and this line converter box) and moved them as far away as possible from the power and gain wires. Similar to you, when I rev the engine the bass increases on the subwoofer.

Certain amps have such issues. If what you say it true that you've isolated the ANC and seperated all power wires from signal wires then that only thing left is either your head unit (which i doubt) or your amp. Get a buddy with another type of amp and swap for just a bit and see if the noise go away. One other thing you might also check is verify that your grounding points is solid. Meaning it's not grounded to a half painted surface and bolt.

I had this same isue when I put my system in. Instead of taking the signal from the factory sub wiring, take it from the rear speakers. That tone you hear is the noise cancellation signal that the factory sub would put out.

The other posters are right you are hearing the ANC. My guess is that the front mic was not disconnected. The roof console can be difficult to disassemble (I was afraid I was going to break something) and your installers might have just settled with the rear mic. You can run the ANC system check to see if the ANC is still connected:

Mine did this too. It's a deep rumble. Only at idle. Sounds like the engine but much louder. I have an '06 with no ANC. It turned out to be an RCA and ground. Mine got worse over time and snuck up on me. I thought I had a bad engine mount at first but when I pulled the fuse the sound went away.
