Sub replacement
Ya I checked the FAQ. But question, do you guys think if I drop in a JL 8" I will need to add an amp or can I use the stock amp?
I don't need it any louder then the way it is now but I'd like softer bass instead of the tight the stock speaker has. I may have to go with an external 12" but I'd like to keep the speakers as stock as possible and I really don't want to have to wire another amp to to new 8", I'd rather put in the 12 and wire external amp to it.
Thanks!

Some people are happy with a shallow mount 8 in the stock location. You can amp an 8 in the rear deck, but the deck is not strong enough for too much power - maybe 100-150W at most, but I am guessing since I have never done it. Looks like you might have to go with a 12.
You have a noise canceling microphone in your S that you have to disconnect if you do all of this.

I don't think the difference of adding a free-air 8" sub of the factory amp will be worth it. By the time you add deadening to the rear deck, you could have added a nice 8" sub with a small amp in a small sealed box and had double the output and a much better sound. You can always turn it down if its too much...can't turn it up without adding more power or distortion
