Stock speakers out of phase (?)

WTF - Outbound from the stock amp, the front signals are reversed polarity from the rears (?)

I'm doing my 3sixty set-up, setting the levels, etc. Using an O-scope and the "half wave clipped" track on the 3sixty setup disk, and following the 3sixty system set-up tips, I find the fronts are in-phase with each other, but definitely reversed with respect to the rears.

Odd, but does that matter? I'll be setting time correction and EQ later, so does this reverse phase between fronts and rear matter?

I did not check the inboard to the amp: I'm assuming this is intentional sound shaping in the HU.

So?

I have actually noticed this as well, I dont know alot about this but i notice something weird when I mess with the balance and fade adjustments.

Most likely by design. Phasing of speakers isn't always as simple as them all being matched. That's especially true when there are multiple drivers at different distances from the listener. I doubt the head unit has any built in phase compensation. But it might.

If you suspect it's wrong then thee is no harm in reversing the wiring to the fronts. If you like it better, or the 3sixty compensates less, that's fine, if not, then switch it back.

If you are interested in this stuff take a look at http://www.audyssey.com/ They embed technology in many manufacturers product. Their MultiEX/DynamicEQ is in my HT Receiver and it's ability to balance out my HT was remarkable.

The 3sixty's going to do similar stuff. When it does it's time alignment (modify apparent driver distance) you will be able to see the effect of the fron drivers phase. If it's less distance compensation with the stock wiring than reversed then you will have your answer.

Just a curiosity then I guess.

I'm going to switch the wiring into the 3Sixty so all 4 are in absolute phase. Per the 3Sixty setup tips, "This [absolute parity] is REALLY important for 3Sixty to perform corrections...in an OEM setup" (their emphasis).
