Stereo whine

yup I searched and found threads close - propeller shaft and amp, but I think this is different.

I have a 07 type s and the battery recently went out, hence i replaced it. Now I get a whine out of the stereo the faster you go the higher the slower the lower the whine. I have no idea if this is connected to the batter or if there is a resister somewhere to help buffer the noise - basically I have no idea wtf is happening here - hoping someone can help.

thanks guys

When you say "the faster you go", you mean engine speed, not road speed, right? It would make a huge difference if it was road speed related and not engine speed.

First thing I would check is the battery connections.

You didn't take the easy route and replace the battery with the engine running, right?

Hi - It's not road noise - its a high whining that goes up in down in pitch depending upon engine rpm.

couldn't start the car so the battery was charged when it was not running.

thanks.

It's probably a grounding issue. Did you ever jump the car off with the old battery or only hook up a charger?

Sounds like alternator noise. You might want to see if it's charging. A simple first test is to put a volt meter on it with the engine running and make sure it goes over 13v. That doesn't guarantee it's good but it will guarantee it's bad if it fails the test.
