stereo cuts out
I've had my 06 TL for just about 6 weeks and there have been 2 or 3 times when the CD player cuts out. Just basically stops in the middle of a song. It hasn't happend enough that I can point to a pattern or think of any reasons. It could be the audio disc itself vs. the hardware??? Otherwise the stereo sounds perfectly fine and no other issues with it. Has anyone experienced this type of problem and what's the resolve to the problem?
The only time anything like that happened to me is when I had a bad DVD-A disc that I made myself. So it was pretty clear what my issue was. Otherwise I have not had any issues like you describe.
Things to consider:
Are the CDs store bought or ones you burned ?
The one's you burn yourself are statistically more likely to have issues. Small chance but generally higher than commercially made ones. If it is this I think you would notice the same disk(s) causing the problem all the time
Are they they scratched. dusty or finger printed up ?
That all can cause issues.
Are the roads "washboard" when it happens ?
If the road is bumpy or the car jitters enough for an extended period of time it can exceed the "skip" protection limits/buffers of optical drives. Then they will usually stop and perhaps pick up again after a short delay. It doesn't have to be a really harsh washboard, just the right frequency for long enough to resonate in the drive of the head unit.
