You could buy it or check out local junk yards to see if they have any 3rd G TLs.. usually the amp does not die in a crash
And, sorry I recommended a ground loop control elsewhere because of the setup..
If you are using stock amp I would find it hard to believe the stock amp is not grounded properly (since you never touched it and would be hard to 'unground' the wire that is attached to the amp harness from the head unit)
Either head unit can be causing a problem here
OR
the amp.
Both sides of the coins will be expensive; head unit being a tab bit more but I've seen head units on ebay that you can replace if that is the culprit for $150-$200. Just be sure the code is provided

If you end up needing a new radio, there is a code on your tape deck face plate. It should say 1TB0, or something like that. You can search for that code. Some of them are relatively cheap. If you happen to have a 1TB0 radio, then be prepared to pay twice as much when you finally find one.
I would try the amp first. BTW - the amp is bolted to the frame and then takes a ground from the wiring harness. There is little chance that it is not grounded well enough.

The ground wire is in the wiring harness, but it is also bolted to the frame. There is about a .000001% chance that an external ground is your problem.
