Speaker smell

Speaker smell

installed my new components the other day at high volumes it seems like the speakers beging to smell is that common for new components the guy at the audio store said to take it easy on em for at least a week

Yeah most people say to treat them easy, like engines. Speakers have a bit of a break-in period because of all those new components. Also when you turn your system on don't allow extreme volume on an instant, ease into it. Lastly don't drive your speakers to distortion. You are destroying them and surely will smell something. I have seen a lot of people trying to blast their systems to show off bass with their weak systems and shredding their speakers. Needless to say it doesn't sound like clean music at that volume and sounds like crap.
