Speaker rattle, replace or warranty?

Hi All,

When the slightest amount of bass is sent to my passenger door speaker, you can really hear the rattle from the cone itself. I have ruled out the panel or grille as being the culprit but have not removed them to do any final testing. But I am sure its coming from the speaker because it may be blown.

Are blown speakers covered under the 50mile/80km warranty? Or should I just replace it with something aftermarket..

Any insight is appreciated, cheers!

Same here dude, i get that rattle and its annoying. I don't think its a blown speaker... might be another infamous rattle that needs to be fixed.

I really hope its as simple as a speaker replacement and not another unknown rattle!

I had problems with the rear speaker rattling, and I first noticed it with the introduction song of the Panic! At the Disco album. The rattling noise was jarring, but if I just barely placed my hand on the speaker to hold it in place, the speaker was just fine. I had it replaced under warranty by the dealer. The new speaker was fine at first, but started to rattle as soon as the same song came on.

^ Thanks for the info.

I made an appointment with the dealer for tomorrow the speaker is included in "the list". haha... I press and pressed all around the speaker and it did not damper the rattle one bit, im almost 100% the speaker is on its way out. I will definitely update this with what happens...

Went to the dealer at 80.2k and they accepted my car for warranty repairs on the items I had presented including the speaker. They need to order parts and I'll be taking it back in on Tuesday to see what they do..

You replaced all of them? So 6 speakers total (2f, 2r, 2 tweeters) ? And all with these Focal component speakers?

Why did you lose bass, do you still use the stock rear sub?? And how much did everything cost? Okay no more questions, haha..

Guys - I had a terrible rattle that I thought was coming from my rear speakers/sub. Those of that you have had the problem come back - try this.

I spent 30 minutes tinkering with my car in the install bay with a guy from Best Buy and we found it was actually the rear vent vibrating, and when the bass hits high enough it touches the glass. The fix? 79 cents worth of a 1inch strip of black felt from a fabric store, pushed down into the crevice with a dull butter knife. Haven't had a rattle since.

Can you elaborate? Recall # or TSB #, location, etc? Thanks!
