Smile Source for SA-CD/DVD Audio

Surfing the net today on a quest to locate better music tailored to the TL's sound system and I came across this: http://www.sa-cd.net/

I have seen the scripts out there for creating your own but that route will not work for me.

After checking the site for a while a I realized there is a lot of music out there that is not carried in the retail stores (as many have said before). I just nevery realized how much is available. This site has reviews and links to stores for refence. All in all, I think its laid out fairly well and has a ton of titles referenced.

Thoughts or feedback on this site (or others)?

Here's another site that offers reviews from their music polls. It's called QuadraphicQuad. It is also a forum for discussing multi-channel sound. Check out the sub-forum for Hi-Rez Spotlight Discs.

Methinks you are a bit confused. The TL can't play SACD discs. It plays DVD-A & DTS discs as well as CD and CD-R's. Both are high resolution sound but completely different formats. SACD uses Direct Stream Digital (DSD) and I don't think anyone has found a way to rip SACD disks (not yet anyway). The scripts you're probably referring to are for DVD-A, not SACD. The scripts were written by Adobeman, who used freeware applications to create 2 channel DVD-a discs.

While it's true that SACD has a larger selection to choose from than DVD-A, both formats were never embraced by the public. The addition of DualDisc (2 Channelstereo on one side and either DVD-A or DVD-V on the flipside) just created more complications. As to which one will sustain longevity, that remains to be seen.

The TL can play SACDs as long as they are hybrids. They will play as CDs, however, rather than as SACDs.

Thanks for mentioning that, I forgot about the "hybrids". The fact of the matter tho, you can't use the hi-rez side. Whereas you can shove the DVD-A into the TL and enjoy hi-rez sound. And you don't need a different player. BTW, not all DVD-A discs are alike - some of the mixes are horrendous and not worth getting.

Wow, I guess you are right. I got to thinking that they would play in our car by virtue of being 5.1 mixes. Didn't really stop to think about how they are encoded.

Thanks for the info.
