Sound system squeals when cold. . .

If the car's been out for 8 hours or so in below 15 degree weather while I'm at work, the stereo will emit a warbling high pitched squeal until the interior warms up. If the GPS talks, the squeal goes away until it stops talking and goes back to regular stereo. This happens on all inputs.

Dealer diagnosed it as a bad center speaker and is replacing that tomorrow, but that seems a bit odd to me, as it sounds like the GPS voice comes mainly from that speaker. If it was a bad speaker, I'd think it would squeal even when the GPS is talking. I suspect something to do with the head unit itself, but thought I'd see what you guys thought. Anyone?

Cold weather and electronics don't always mix too well.

well, yes, I know that. That being understood, this is a car, that was sold in Minnesota, and that costs a lot of money. I expect its electronics to perform at least as well as the ones in my CRXes, or the ones in my old car, a 1989 Dodge Caravan. And neither of them ever squealed. Nor does the 09 TL loaner I'm driving now, and I'd wager none of your cars do either. So, I think cold is only a factor in that it is triggering a problem that shouldn't exist in the first place.

Did replacing the speaker work? I have the same problem - squeals for 2 mins or so until it warms up.
