Other than the radio capabilities was anything else changed in the audio system from 06 to the 07-08 years? The 07-08's sound different and I prefer the sound from them.

 

I believe they added PLII processing for 2 ch. sources as well as discreet channel faders (center, front/rear, sub), ANC (for type S) and speed-sensitive noise compensation (whatever it's called, Ford Focuses had the same thing in '00)

 

Those are what I was calling the radio capabilities. When every type of processing is off the 07-08's still sound different. I was wondering if maybe the amp was different or the speaker construction.

This is the radio changes by year:
2004: New radio with 3rd gen release
2005: Radio logic changed, the rear speakers now have full power with the fronts, in 2004 logic the radio used rear speakers as "filler"
2006: No changes
2007: radio was updated with numerous changes, the addition of MP3/WMA formats, ANC (active noise cancelation) for Type S Models, an AUX jack, and Dolby Pro Logic II to convert 2 channel sound to simulated 5.1.
2008: No changes made

 

Csmenace, do you have a link for the writeup you did on the changes for each year? I searched but couldn't find it.
