Sound deadening for rear seating area
Sound deadening for rear seating area
Sup zine, I have my rear seats out to adjust my dampening and left them out for the purpose of this thread
Does any sort of sound deadening material make a big impact where the rear seating area goes compared to other areas or is it not worth it. Should I just throw some stuff on there and put the seats over it as no one will see it
I just want to cut out overall necessary noise if possible and might as well start here
thanks

From the factory, the seats bottom actually has vinyl/foam deadner attached to the cushion part itself. Some deadning material is on the frame portion bellow the seat too from the factory.
When I deadned my whole car I had some MLV/CCF left over (sound deadner showdown products) that I layed under my seat for extra deadning. I just cut the vinyl and foam to fit and placed the seat back on top of it with no issues. I dont know how much it helped as I done my whole car at once, but Im definately happy with the results overall.

I see, thanks. I'm guessing the wheel wells followed by pillars and doors create the most noise for our TLs?
Also I think the exhaust creates most noise on the right side, I feel as if my right ear is losing hearing... unless the only pair of headphones I have potentially running less noise on the right side

Yeah, my exhasut is tamed down alot now. I removed the seats and carpet and laid MLV/CCF on the entire floor. completely deadned the trunk and laid MLV in the spare tire well also. The doors are lined with deadner/MLV/CCF front and rear.
I just called a audio store in the area, they carry some new good stuff that is a peel, stick, press
I remember last time I had to deal w/ sound deadening it was messy and heat was required.
I'll definitely gonna be doing this depending on how much my budget allows
good to hear exhaust noise went down too, I might be getting old I get irritated after a long period of time but it sounds so good I don't want to get rid of it. Just lessen inside noise

Material used: has a thin foam with a rubber above it
I decided to do this because it was the easiest to do without having to take off too many panels and also back seats were out and I never roll with a spare set/tools. I carry a pump generator but will need a new one, current one busted
Helps to have a friend to help, time consuming to make/measure cuts. Incisions necessary to allow better forming/contouring to the frames chassis dips and elevations.
Both having not done this, I think it went pretty well and neat.
We got the spare wheel well floor to under the rear passenger seats. Laid it down cut some pieces out and fitted them as neatly as I could and made cuts to allow it to sit better and contour to the frame lines.
I think it somewhat lessened drone but I'm still getting an ear full from an all around radius. I have the rear seat bench in with cuts needed to get to bolt holes, seatbelt buckles, etc. No backing, perhaps with the backing in will it's true magic reveal. Or I just need to do way more of the car and/or exhaust is too loud
I bought way more than necessary, hopefully the audio place I bought it from will give me cash for the unused segments

So I started searching and this seems like the closest thread to jack instead of starting another. Has anyone deadened the rear doors? I know there's no speakers but going to close the doors they feel so light, would it make any difference in cabin volume or just be a waste of material and weight? I partially did my fronts and I think I'm gonna go back and do it right, just trying to decide if it's worth doing all 4 doors.
