Software problem with new navi DVD

I recently updated my DVD for my 2005 Acura TL with the current DVD. The system now has problems identifying several key roads. For example, I live in the Washington DC area. It does not identify Route 66 and the Dulles toll road inside the Washington beltway (I 495) as a drivable road, even though the road is displayed. It drops "breadcrumbs" and does not use this route in any trip. This makes the DVD useless for plotting most routes to and from my home and office.

Has anyone else experienced this problem? Is there a fix?

You might want to disconnect the battery for 30 minutes with the car parked in a clear area (not in your garage) where it can get the satellite signal. When you reconnect the battery and turn the car on, the navi will ask you for the code, then it will attempt to sync with the satellites. After a few minutes it will boot up and then you should drive on a major road and wait for it to display the name at the bottom. This means it has completely synced the maps. Then try to plot some routes and see what happens.

Has anyone been given a "fix" for this problem? It makes the upgrade to 3.6 worthless in the Washington DC area.

I took my car into the dealer. They confirmed that there was a problem-- another disk produced the same results. They "think" that it is a software problem & will replace the navi unit next time I'm in for service.

Has anyone else upgraded & got this problem in the DC area? Has anyone had it fixed yet?

I've gone back to the old DVD. My guess is that it is a software problem, but I will be very ticked if they replace the navi & I still have the problem.

Its the software. I doubt replacing the unit will do anything unless they give you the new unit (with the white disc). Which dealership?
