So I held a V710 today

Through a wierd chain of events today I was able to hold a V710 today. Unfortuneately I was not able to test the bluetooth in my car, but was able to play with the phone a little. Like many on this forum I was awaiting this phone's release, but being a happy Cingular customer for 5 years I decided to stay with them and buy the T637. Overall, I was not impressed by the V710. The form factor is just too big. The screen is nice, but I did not see what the hooplah was about this phone. The UI is almost identical to the V600, and the video camera seemed useless. Video playback would be very jerky and laggy. The video setup on the P900 was far better than this one (check the site in my sig for my upcoming P900 and T637 reviews). If the same chain of events continues, I may be able to try the phone in my car. Till then I will post some pics later to quench your thirst.

This is the only BT phone with Verizon. Lot of people were waiting for this so they can use the BT HFL in their TL without switching Verizon and compramise on the crapy coverage with other carriers. BTW, most of people have seen the pictures of this phone.

I am being _forced_ to switch to Verizon by my girlfriend. I've been with ATT for a long time and was planning on getting the SE637, but she is locked into a contract with Verizon and I'm month to month with ATT. Most of her family use Verizon, so she wants to the free mobile to mobile with me and her family. First I told her that I would not switch unless I could take my number with me. Then after I got the TL I told her I will not switch until Verizon gets a BT phone out. I guess I'm running out of excuses. Though $250 after rebate plus 2 year commitment is pretty damn steep.

A lot of my friends have verizon and their service is very comparable to mine (and I live in the same area as you). But I can understand WSP loyalty that people have (I have it for Cingular), so I know how you verizon people are itching for any BT phone. I took the pictures more for a size comparison, for I put the phone side by side with my T637.

If I am able to test the phone in the car, I won't be able to make any calls because the one I can use is not activated...

Raj,

Actually I was thinking of switching to Cingular and had posted two seperate threads in this and Ramblings->Phone forum. But could not get more replies from the people. How do you think the coverage is in east bay? I really liked the T637. Do you experience any drops or holes while talking on Cingular?

The service in the east bay is pretty good, if you give me a specific location there I can give you a less generic answer

T637

ryder1650,

I'm really interested in your comments / review of the T637 because I'm interested in getting one.

...V710, was it as good for you as it was for me? Yeah, it feels just as solid as the V600. Fortunately, I gave up Verizon awhile back for GSM and never turned back. As for the T637, awesome phone/great screen but the reception is not as good as the T616 judging from personal experience. oh well. I have a P900 now. no biggy.
