Factory parts are expensive and a somewhat difficult install. Aftermarket has been done lots, search again. Sorry I don't feel like looking but there are many threads.

Nav

I didn't buy with Nav on purpose... I know my way around in my car, it's when I'm out of town that I really NEED a GPS I travel about 20% of the year. I have had various units, but I am currently using the Garmin C330 (after trying some Magellan units and being sorely disappointed.) The C330 is about $1,000, but can be had on eBay by qualified Garmin dealers for $700. It's excellent. Touch screen, light, built in battery so you can take it with you, USB connection, and it has 5 million+ waypoints and all of the US built into the unit. No DVD or messing with that stuff.

The touchscreen and destination entry is actually very easy and nicely done, and it's ridiculously accurate with WAAS capability.

The Acura Nav is the best Nav in the business, so if you want it in the car all the time, it's a great option. If you like to take your Nav with you on trips, business, etc, then the Garmin C330 is a fine choice.

Adam

(Oh and I drive a LOT of cars with different Nav systems shooting photography for motorsports magazines.)

I think all the components ran him 1500, cheaper than factory. Putting it in requires you to tare up everything and feed wires everywhere. Have fun.

if you can find the screen and drive on ebay it shouldn't cost too much, but the wiring alone is a pain in the ass. it can be done, someone has already done it, but it takes time to do

i do not know the person selling this, i am just posting the link to show you can easily find it on ebay

Magellan 700

Buying my TL without the Navi saved me $4000 (the $2000 cost of the Navi and purchased my car $2000 under MSRP).

Since I still wanted the Nav capability, I purchased a Magellan 700 and hard-wired it to my TL with a specially-designed bracket. It works great and cost my only $1000! I also have the ability to remove it and use it in another vehicle or take it with me if I rent a car on business.

you should have shopped around more cause most people now are getting 2K or more below msrp for a TL with navi(i have been seeing alot of people getting it between 32-33K). saving 4000 cannot be true anymore. no one is buying the TL with navi at msrp price. unless you got your non-nav for 28-29K or below you did not save 4K. in the beginning when the 04 TL came out it was a little more for the navi than non-navi simply because it was new. now there are plenty out there and the prices hav even'ed out.

the person who converted the TL said he paid 1500 for the parts but admitted that most people could not get all the parts at that price. so it would likely cost you closer to 2K(which is the difference between nav and non-nav from the factory). plus the labor involved was not simple and if you were to attempt it expect to spend lots of time. he also said it was not for the novice installer. if you payed a shop to do this the hourly rate would be pretty crazy and would offset any savings of getting a non-navi TL. in fact i am pretty sure that it will cost more to do this than just to get one from the factory with navigation.
