Signal Strength with new Sprint ROM (Treo 650)

I have good news! The signal strength now shows up in the MID and on the radio display. Sprint's Treo 650 update (1.12) came out last night. All is good!

First call problems?

Someone on Treocentral commented that the first call (initiated from the handheld) still drops the HFL. Has anyone else experienced this?

After updating to 1.12, I do see the signal strength on the MID, but not on the radio display. (w/ 04 TL NAVI)

Pianoman, do you have the link to the post about the first call dropping? I have this problem and just wanted to see what others are doing. FYI, the 1.12 patch did not fix the problem. Thanks.

The signal strength shows up on both the MID and the radio display for me. One other thing I found out, the Treo doesn't quite send the strength correctly. With a full signal, the Acura only shows four out of the five bars. I guess it doesn't calculate the strength based on some %, it's probably based on the number of bars.

Great for you...sucks for the rest of us who have unlocked phones... Cingular and Sprint got patches to fix that... but P1 claims that the unlocked phones "don't need it"... bull

I was one of the persons on Treocentrel who reported this. It is random if it does this. I have found that you get the car to recognize the treo, in some cases, is to force a phone call from the handset to allow it's bluetooth to go and find a bluetooth HFL or headset if it is not recognize when you first turn on the car. I removed my blueooth headset from the car (Jabra BT200) so there is no other bluetooth conflicts.

Here is my link:

This patch is no longer relevant on the newer firmware releases (at least that is my understanding).

I used this patch when I first got my treo, and the car still did not show signal and battery status. Did some people get them to show up?

Thanks

First call dropping

HandsFreeLink from JCI (Honda and Acura)

* As per the design of your car’s handsfree system, the outgoing calls made from the handset (Treo) are NOT transferred automatically to the car’s handsfree system.
* There may be rare instances where the car’s handsfree system and Treo do not recognize each other. In this case, the car’s handsfree system indicates that it has lost communication with the phone. The only known work-around at this time is to recycle the ignition power on the car to initiate the communication sequence between the phone and the car’s handsfree system. palmOne is working with JCI to resolve this issue. Please check back here in a few weeks for any update.

Well, I still experience the occiasional hung audio system once again the other day:

1) The MID displays "booting up" sequence (if I select handsfreelink)
2) "HF link" displayed on the console with no phone icon

In order to fix this, I have to disconnect my negative lead on my battery before I can use my audio system. The HFL now has the following:

1) The MID display "booting up" sequence (if I select handsfreelink)
2) Neither "HF link" or phone icon is displayed on the console

After a while my HFL and Treo starts working again (phone icon displayed). I could not re-pair the treo again while the above was happening. I do not lose any settings whenever I have to do this.

I notice that the MID displays "booting up" sequence whenever you have a paired phone based on my experience. I am wondering if another bluetooth phone in my townhome complex may be causing this issue of the occiasional hung audio system? This is first time this has happen since I applied the patch 1.12 and I used HFL most of time over the previous weekend.

I think you only see it on the radio display if you do NOT have nav.... For each phone I have used successfully it just shows on the MID... I have NAV.

As for the 1st call issue... I have noticed with Sprint at least interrmitently, it will drop the call back to the phone when the call is made on the phone.. The Car picks it up for a sec then it drops it....

Thats the only issue.

As for the signal strength bars maxing out at 4.. that is RIGHT though...

If you lookk at the Treo, it only HAS a 4 bar signal meter.. not 5.. so that is working fine!

I wonder why they don't send the battery stregnth.. thats the only thing missing to make this perfect... my other bluetooth phones did...

Get the Sprint update... Installing a new ROM is a pain with the restore you have to do and all that, but its really worth it!
