Sidemarker Electrical Issue

Hey guys,

I bought a sidemarker kit from an Acura dealer about a month ago, put them on and the left rear marker wasn't working. Called the seller, they replaced the marker. Put the new one on today and still wasn't working so I have deduced that it is an electrical problem. Any ideas on this? I know it may be hard to diagnose such a problem without actually physically looking at it but maybe someone can help. Anybody around the NYC area available to help. I'm willing to drive out to see you as long as you can provide real assistance. PLEASE!

Thanks!

The OEM sidemarker did work the last time I plugged it in (about a day after I installed the first type S sidemarker), but I haven't tried with the new one.

So when you put back stock, they work fine?

If not, get a multimeter, and make sure there is power running to them.

The last time I put back to stock, it was working. I might go see a friend today who would know what's wrong with it.

You placed the Type-S onto an 04-06 right? Did you plug it in correctly, as the new sidemarkers have three metal plugs whereas the wiring only has the ability to use two of them. I believe you want to use the two that are closest to the front of the vehicle

If it is truely a electrical problem it is either not getting power (hot side) or its a bad ground. A bad ground is easy to fix, just find the ground wire and ground it to a body ground somewhere or somwhere locally on the chassis as long as its grounded. That would get them to work but if its monitored by the ECM and throws a cluster warning it is being grounded at the ECM and simply grounding it anywhere while fixing the light issue would not get rid of the cluster warning.

If it is being grounded at the ECM you need to repair the short. Anyways I could go on and on. If it is on the hot side it may be a relay of some sort.

Problem has been fixed. Fulani has a TL got it correct. The wiring only allows you to only use two of the metal plugs and it wasn't lining up correctly with the actual marker. It confused me because everything worked on the right side. All we had to do was bend the pin a little and it fit perfectly.

Thanks for all the help though.
