Sharing 2014 Orange Navi Disc $99 is back!
Hey guys,
For those who may not be aware. Acura is having the $99 Orange Navigation Disc promotion for the 3G (2004-2006) Acura TL is happening now.
Expiration: March 31st

I just got the email today on the promotional offer. I got the paper offer back in November for the 2014 Navi Disc for our cars and it did state that this is the last update Acura will push out. And quantity is limited. $99 bucks compared to the MSRP $150 +shipping
I own a 2005 TL with the original disc so I plan to buy it since I lost the paper ad one and passed the promotional offer. So in case your in a similar situation I would buy it.
I use my Navi a lot to travel to unknown areas in CA so it comes in handy for me.

not worth it. I bought the 2013 disc and I never use the navi. it was a waste of $100 bucks.
the navi was advanced in 2004, but it looks like Fisher Price now. In this day and age with Google Maps on your phone or tablet, that makes for a better interface. combine that with bluetooth and you have turn by turn directions thru your car's speakers.
use the $99 bux for other mods IMO.

Since you can almost sell your old DVD for half the price of the new one, it makes complete sense where it ends up only costing about $50. I still think it's better than using a phone. The integration is much better and it's always on. I can't tell you how many times I've used the nav screen to route around traffic. Given the delay I see on things getting updated on Google and Apple maps, I don't feel like I'm missing anything if I update the nav DVD on a regular basis. Everyone has their own opinion, but I don't think I'll ever buy a car without nav again.

Since there a few different opinions here, I'll throw out another one. If you're reasonably mechanically inclined, replace your navigation with a Nexus 7 tablet. I'm in the process of doing this - total cost will be $150-$200, and the usability is fantastic. Favorite feature is the Voice Input application, where I can give a verbal request for directions or restaurant reviews or to play a song, and the tablet will coordinate the results both on the screen and with a verbal confirmation. Real-time traffic via google maps. It also synchronizes to your calendar and will prompt you if you want directions to your appointments. This is as good as any navigation system I've seen in today's cars (not that I've seen them all)...

I think it's totally worth it. Got my 2013 dvd on eBay for $70. The big screen and always-on features are really convenient.
Also, I have a Galaxy Note 3, so my phone screen is pretty big and I still prefer the integrated navi size :0

Thanks, so this may be a dumb question. Would it matter if i live in canada? Does acura make seperate discs if you live in canada, or would this disc work and update my canadian maps as well.
Thanks

EDITED TO ADD: BTW, for those interested in upgrading who missed the March 31 deadline mentioned in the OP, http://www.acuranavi.com has the orange disc for $99 through July 6. 2004–06 TL owners should take note of the following from their website: "Save $50 off the regular price of $149. This special offer of $99 is available through July 6, 2014. This 2014 map update is the final release for your vehicle and quantities will be available while supplies last."

I could not disagree more with the boldfaced text. For use in the car, I've long felt the simpler the better. The Navi's maps are exactly what they're supposed to be—MAPS that remind me a great deal of the conventional paper maps with which we all grew up. I don't need a cartoonish, childish interface that shows me two lines to denote the curbs to either side of the road, as that sort of thing is not helpful in showing where I'm heading.

I ended up buying the disc because although things like Google Maps or Waze exist, my TL's GPS doesn't rely on cell signals which can be spotty here in the west, especially on long road trips. I use my TL's GPS on a daily basis, so it's worthwhile for me. Obviously, everyone's mileage will vary.
Plus, I'll never have to update the disc again. And if I'm going to sell my old disc (2010), it'll fetch the most resale value right now instead of later on.
Mad props again to the OP for finding the deal and being willing to share it with all of us

Yeah, and you know, I should have added that I don't know whether the deal also applies to the white disc because I didn't think to check. My 2004 uses the orange disc, so that's what I was investigating.
I just checked http://www.acuranavi.com and the $99 price is valid for both the orange and white discs through July 6, 2014; however, in the case of the orange disc, it is available "while supplies last."

It looks like the deal is still on. I do not use the Navi that often, but enough to warrant $99 especially that it is the last year they will make it and I plan on keeping the car for few more years. On top of this, my old disc is already scratched where the voice is garbled, so it makes even more sense to get. I will most likely wait till the weekend and order it.
I got real good deal from ebay for 2014 disc and while I am a google maps fans, I cant beat using big screen, split screen notifications, and thinking now of upgrading to xm nav traffic!
can anyone confirm if xm nav traffic on details traffic on major highways or also for normal high traffic streets too?

Can't complain, I get it for free. Guess the last owner is a life member or something because I've owned the car for 4mo and I still get XM eveything
The 2014 doesn't have any software updates, just POI updates.
There were updates for a lot of POI in Los Angeles County as far as banks and restaurants go-- but only through 2013. IIRC, it also was up to date on all the toll roads in Orange County.
Welcome to AZ.
