Setting up Bluetooth
I just got a TL and I was wondering if someone could help me with the bluetooth set up. I have a Motorola V557 blue-tooth enabled phone, and when I try to pair it with my TL the car doesnt seem to find it. Is there something I am doing wrong?
- Thanks

if that phone IS Bluetooth enabled (and you've confirmed it... since I'm not really familiar with that model)... you might want to turn the phone on to "Searching for Bluetooth Device" BEFORE you start pairing the car, instead of doing it after, as the TL manual says.

The phone needs to find the car, not the other way around. I know the instructions make it sound the other way around.
-Put the car in pairing mode (this will involve you telling the car a 4 digit code)
-Once the car is in pair mode, search for the car from your phone
-Your phone will find the car, and you will need to enter that 4 digit code you spoke to the car earlier
-When they handshake happens, the car will ask you to name the phone
-Done
(make sure you phone is not in discoverable mode. This is not needed for the pairing and is a security risk and battery waste to your phone)

Hi,
This is my first time here. I hope I am not too late in answering this question. You can visit www.handsfreelink.com and see if your phone is compatible with the TL. If it's, you'll see the battery power, the Signal strength...and so on.
Here is step by step on how to pair the V551, so I guess the v557 is similar.
IMPORTANT: You must press and release the HandsFreeLink talk button on the steering wheel and wait for the beep before you speak. This step is required before all spoken commands.
Power on the phone and ensure Bluetooth® is ON. Please refer to your phone's user guide for steps to turn on Bluetooth.
Press and release the Talk button on the steering wheel and wait for the "beep" before you speak. Repeat this step before all spoken commands.
Say "phone setup"
Say "pair"
Say any 4 digit PIN code for pairing. Remember it as you will need to enter it into your phone later. HandsFreeLink will now instruct you to begin the pairing process in the phone.
Press the MENU button on the phone.
Choose SETTINGS and press SELECT.
Scroll to CONNECTION and press SELECT.
Choose BLUETOOTH LINK and press SELECT.
Scroll to HANDS-FREE and press SELECT.
Scroll to LOOK FOR DEVICES and press SELECT.
HandsFreeLink should appear on the device list. Choose HandsFreeLink and press SELECT.
"BOND WITH HandsFreeLink"" will appear. Press YES.
Enter the 4 digit PIN from earlier step and press OK.
When prompted, say the desired phone name.
You should hear "pairing successful."
Good Luck.

Thanks for the set up... unfortunately, my car didn't come with a manual. Does anyone know how to automatically synch your contacts with bluetooth...
Also, if I play something on my phone will the audio work. For example a song on my phone will it play thru bluetooth?

The owner's and Navi manuals are in the 3G TL Service Dept/Garage, section iii) at: https://acurazine.com/forums/3g-tl-2004-2008-93/3g-tl-service-department-aka-garage-questions-answers-check-here-first-553557/
Depends on the year of your TL, but I think only Sony Ericcson phones will permit syncing all contacts (up to HFL capacity) at once, while other phones can do it one contact at a time.
The HFL has no music-playing capability-- it'll only operate in phone mode.
