SE Z600 users..... love it or hate it?

I'm about to buy a SE Z600 phone from eBay and I was just wondering how members who have it like it and how it performs with thier TL. I currently have a Cingular SE T616 but I wanna upgrade to a flip phone, don't have any particular reason but just want to make sure it will work well with the HFL in the TL. Btw I love this car and what I loved more is the look on my buddies face today when we were going back to work from lunch today and he heard the car say 'You have an incoming call....' with the Caller ID displaying on the MID. TLs rule!

The Z600 is an amazing phone. I have owned one and so does my gf. It is an incredble phone to pair with an incredible car. When you get your phone, post here:

the z600 is great. From what I understand it is the flip version of the T61x series, so if you like your T616, you will like the z600.

Now, what's this about getting the car to say "You have an incoming call"? Mine doesn't do that - it just mutes the stereo, and plays its own ring over the speakers. It does show caller id info in the MID, but I've never heard anything about it telling you about an incoming call - is this an option I forgot to setup?

Yeah its in the setup options. I'll check when I leave work and will post the directions once I figure them out. It basically asks you whether you want to hear female prompts or male prompts, hear a ring tone or voice prompt from the dude or lady when an incoming call is detected and something else. Try this, say 'phone setup' and then when it reads out the setup options try 'edit' then follow the rest of hte prompts. Thinks thats how to get to it. Its a real wow! feature when I have people in the car. My Z600 arrives tomorrow. Am so pumped.

The Z600 has a screen that is somewhere in between the T610/T616 and the T630/T637 series. It's probably a T630 screen if I'm not mistaken. Trying to get my hands on a S700i but its so expensive at the moment.

HEY! You might want to wait for the new Sony Ericsson Z500 that's coming out very soon. It will be much slimmer and smaller thatn the Z600 which looks really really fat in all the pictures, and the reviews i've seen on line all say the z600's size is a big drawback.

Just letting you know! This is what I'm thinking about doing too.

I did check it out it is a great phone but the downside is that it is not bluetooth capable. So thats a no no for me. But thanks for the suggestion.

That's the downside to the Z500a. Everybody, inlucding myself thought it would be the replacement for the Z600 which it is not. The V800 on the other hand looks like a great contender since it'll support GSM and UMTS plus all the other gadget stuff in a flip phone style casing.

So I got my Z600 today, couldn't be happier. Paired with my baby in no time. I really like the fact that its prolly the only flip phone out there that doesn't have the annoying antenna. Love the interchangeable face plates I got with it too. It is more or less the same as the T616 like Mobilezen mentioned with a few extra features here and there. The camera is also far much more clearer that the T616. My advice....... get one! Peace.

Interesting... Three questions I have...

1. The phone looks very very very FAT when closed. Is it?

2. The 616 has a mediocre reception rating. Does your phone essentially have the same guts? If so, I'm concerned about the reception I'd get.

3. Were you able to buy it somewhere that will give you any kind of warranty...loss & damage insurance? I can't get it in So Cal from Cingular, so I don't know if I'll be able to justify the risk of just buying one on the web.

Thanks

1.) The phone is definitely chunky but fits nicely in the pockets.

2.) Reception is based on your geographic location. For me, the T616 and K700 are the best SE phones I have used up to date.

3.) I know T-Mobile does insurance for non-t-mobile phones. Not sure about cingular.

thanks Zen. Really appreciate the reply. Just one more question...will it work with the phone closed? I like to use a headset and then stick the phone in my pocket...like when I'm out and about, and flip phones don't usually allow this.

thanks again

Yup, you can hit the button on the headset to answer the call.

acuraddict - see your questions have been answered most effectively. Good job Mobilezen Today I noticed the reception is better than my T616 in that there are several 'bermuda triangles' on my way to work where my T616 would cut out coz the signal was lost. I had no dropped call problem today when I drove through these places so one more reason I love this phone and this car so much!

Drago,

You can do it yourself. Just press the HFL button and say SETUP, and the car will do the rest.

The Z600 mates beautifully with the TL. Has battery level and signal level meters and Caller ID display. Never had a problem with it.

For the several months I've had mine I have had no problems. It does 'freeze' up once in a long while and I have had to remove the battery and 'reboot' it otherwise I love the way it intergrates with my car. One other reason I like it is that there are so few of them around in fact I haven't seen anyone else with one - I like being exclusive. On the other hand it sucks coz I cannot find belt clips for it which I had for my T616. Hope you have fun with urs.

SSM6MTNAVI .. there's a krusell case with a belt clip for the z600... I must warn you tho. .. it's designed to have 'interchangeable' clips. This feature, while cool, is also a weakness as it will start wearing out and falling apart if you stress the part by bumping into the phone with the car seat if you have it on your side. I've resorted to putting the phone in my pocket and just clipping it to the edge to protect it. :/ Other than that.. the case is a pretty one and sensibly designed to both allow the camera to work and to show off whatever phone cover you have at the moment.

on another note, I managed to get my phone linked to the HFL, but is there any seamless way to get the HFL to handle the call if you had dialed from the phone other than going into the menu and then selecting 'transfer sound' ? I tried mucking with profiles but I didn't get very far with that.

Just press the HFL button on the steering wheel and say "TRANSFER", and it'll transfer the call.

Transfer will do both actually. If you're talking on your phone, it'll switch to HFL, if you're talking on HFL, it'll switch to your phone.
