Se T637
Se T637
Anyone purchased this phone yet, if so how does it perform with the TL? I here it's suppose to have better screen and signal than the T616... Cingular has it on their website for 99.99 after 50.00 rebate... The cell phone dept. at Sam's Club told me on the phone that they have the phone for 99.00 before the 50.00 rebate and you can just do a one year contract unlike Cingular which I think requires two year to get their price. Also yesterday she said they were also offering a 25% discount on the phone, which would have been a pretty good deal, only I didn't get time to go.
They also say they will give you a new number, so that in the fifteen day trial period if you don't like the service you can cancel and not lose your other service provider telephone number and if you like the service and want to switch then you can port your old number over.

I have had the 637 for a month. It is great. It has a class 4 antenna/receiver, which is stronger than the class 5 in the 616. It also has a much better screen that can be viewed during the day. However, it does have the same quirks as the 616, in regards to displaying"phone" when you start the car up. However, the fix is easy, just press the talk and then cancel button.
I just got a 637 tonight from ATT. It paired and works perfectly with my TL. It also shows signal strength and battery on the TL's display. It's a cool phone. I didn't want to leave Verizon but I got tired of waiting for the 710 plus it looks too big anyway.
T637 Pairs Well But Signal Strength In South Florida And T-mobile Is Awful. T-637 Came Unlocked Being T-mo Does Not Sell The 637 In The States As Of Yet. Otherwise All Funtions Work Great.

I Am Now Concerned That I Was Sold A Fraudulent Phone for $300.00, The Box Says T-mobile Se T637, The Instructions Say The Same, How Do I Know What I Have.IF it is a T630 what is the differance, and as we speak the phone is at Sony' repair center in North Carolina for a firmware upgrade which we hope cures the signal issue.

right star left left star left star
select software info, then configuration and scroll down. It will tell you what bands are available. If its says 850/1800/1900, then its the T637. If it says 900/1800/1900, then you bought yourself a T630. The only T63x that is branded by T-Mobile is the T630 as they have no use for 850 although when I went to Colorado over the summer, my gf roaming on 850 when we were in the middle of nowhere.
The phone as we speak is at Solectron USA in North Carolina, When I told them (Sony Support) the problem with the signal strength they had me send it there for a firmware upgrade.Therefor I cannot check what you asked. I will keep this Post and when the phone is returned in 7-10 days I will let you know.
Another vote here for the 637. Works great in the TL and I apparently got the same deal at Sams you were also offered - $99 with a Cingular one-year plan. I would buy a case though to keep the screen from scratching.

What do you mean, "displaying 'phone'?" Do you see the word "PHONE" in the MID or something?
This site is great. I currently have the SE 608 with sprint, and am looking to change services. The phone work well but sprints coverage sucks in my area.
I was looking at the AT&T SE 616 but after reading I think that the SE 637 is the way to go.

T637 has been great... very easy to pair w/ TL. However, screen is very scratched after just a few months of use. I called SE and they offered to replace the housing for about $150. Hmmmm. No thanks. This is my first non-flip design and I like the fact that it's slim and fits in pants pocket without the unsightly bulge. Definitely recommend this model.
T637 works fine for me too
I've had my car for a week, and used the HFL a few times with my T637 on AT&T. Works great. Sometimes the voice is scratchy, like its too loud and distorted. But it is absolutely necessary as my car is a 6MT and I need both hands!
I returned my t637, and I'm waiting for the nokia 6230..should be out any day from cingular.
1. 637 screen scratched way too easily
2. buttons are too close together
3. phone is too delicate - joystick button malfunctioned from dropping the phone off my desk and onto the floor one time - replacement had the same problems after one week.
4. sound quality in HFL is only so-so, scratchy distorted etc.
5. I found out about the Nokia, and I've had great luck with nokia quality for years.
