Scosche iPod Adapter

Saw this announced at SEMA in Vegas. Looks promising! A bluetooth adapter for the iPod that shows Honda compatibility.

http://www.fourtitude.com/news/publi...cle_1775.shtml

After looking at it, it seems like it doesn't actually integrate with the car's native bluetooth, but a bluetooth receiver you install inline with the stereo.

Interesting.

Hmm it does look interesting but it kinda sucks that you have to buy a bluetooth thing separately

The only bluetooth profile our vehicle supports is the handsfree profile. It's not Bluetooth 2.0 w/ EDR so you'll get some horrid sounding audio quality, even if it did manage to integrate with the vehicles bluetooth system.

Scosche Bluetooth iPod adapter

Scoshe Bluetooth iPod Adapter Product Page

This thing says it uses BT 1.2. What version of BT does the Acura incorporate? I've read of 1.0, 1.1, 1.2, and 2.0 (I know the Acura doesn't have BT 2.0).

Maybe if the Acura has BT 1.2 also you could pair them up??

The Scosche BT has nothing to do with the Acura BT (Hands-free link).

Acura's is for a phone pairing, not audio input to the stereo. Think about how it would have to work: You would have to have your car in Hands-free mode the whole time to listen to input from the ipod.

The Scoshe BT transmits from an adapter on the ipod to a hard-wired in-line adapter that goes into an aux-in to your stereo.

I almost bought this for my old car before my car was torn into and the head unit was stolen...leading me to get rid of the car and get the TL...No one I talked to could explain specifically how it worked, but what it has is a pass through unit which has left and right RCA inputs. There is another unit that you plug into the headphone jack of the iPod. This unit sends the music to the unit plugged into the rear of your head unit. The way I was going to set it up for my old unit was hook it to the cd changer input which I hadn't utilized yet, and then switch it to the cd changer controls to use it. It seemed promising and the few reviews I read said the sound quality was decent...How it would work with the TL setup, I am not necessairly sure...more experienced folks that have done more work on their setup could speak about it better than myself.

BT in this adaptor is replacing a cable between iPod and the car. BT receiver still will have to be somehow hardwired into the car in order to work. I don't see any advantages, and it will drain iPod battery faster.

Not sure, but wouldn't you get interference from another bluetooth source in close by? It happens with the phones, so I don't see why it wouldn't with this as well.
