SatNav assistance please.....
Dear All,
Grateful for any assistance you can offer on the following issue I have. This might not be the Honda CRV forum but it looks like someone on this forum might be able to help judging by the technical threads I have seen.
I currently own a 2005 Honda CRV Sport. This did not come with SatNav, only a cd player. I have managed to get hold of a SatNav from a 2003 CRV and thought it would be an easy swap!
Seems there is a plug missing on my cars wiring harness, I have the big one that has the speaker connections + power etc... There is another one with 12 connections on. I do have the GPS receiver for the unit but have no idea where this is mounted!
I have searched for a wiring diagram for the SatNav but unable to find anything. Grateful if someone can help, otherwise I have a SatNav that is only fit for the trash can!
Part number is - 39541-S9A-G021-M1
Many thanks,
Jim.

it's me, Alan Rickman.
You probably need a different wiring harness; some people on here have made their own when converting to a nav system, others buy it from the dealership [not cheap though]
Usually the DVD-Drive and the GPS antenna are located in the back; not sure exactly where on the CRV - but on the TL the drive is on the rear right side of the trunk, and the GPS unit sits by the rear right speaker behind the seats
The only thing I could suggest is searching one of the nav conversions on this forum and read what the people had to buy or make to get it to work - Obviously you'll go through similar steps becuase they're both Honda systems
This looks like a good one.. you can see the home-made wiring harness:

It will be simpler to create a Car-PC and get it installed with a touchscreen...
Otherwise you gotta buy a new DVD-ROM from Honda, a new wiring harness, a new nav screen, move your current displays to another location.... Its gonna cost more than it would have to buy the CRV with navi. :twocents:
