Satellite Radio Stopped Working? Known Issue?

The satellite radio in my mom's '06 TL quit working a few weeks ago. She's contacted XM twice and gotten them to do a reset and try to get the head unit to accept the code, and apparently it is not accepting it. I don't know if the antenna has gone bad (she recently had some body work done on the left rear quarter panel, but the antenna wire runs through the headliner I believe so this should be totally independent and only coincidental) or if the head unit itself has flaked out after close to 10 years...all be it 10 years of very light use.

I'm completely new to the forum and just trying to help her find a cost effective solution. Giving Acura $1,500+ for a brand new, 10 year old model head unit is not going to happen. It looks like there are quite a few used head units on Ebay, but I figure those are a total crap shoot. Who knows what they have been through. If anyone can offer any experiences with a similar issue, I would sure appreciate it. Thanks!

Matt

I think the XM receiver is under the trunk liner in the right rear-- see 20064DRTLSPORTXMtunerlocation.jpg Photo by valenciaca | Photobucket.

Loss of the satellite radio is not a common problem.

Welcome to AZ.

Thank you Will. She is coming up here on Wednesday and going to drop it off at the dealership. Hopefully it is something simple. Thanks for the response!

Hello, I am new to this forum and was wondering if you could remember what the issue was? I know it's been a while. I just got a 2007 TL S and I'm having the same issue with my sat radio.
