Running power wire through the firewall
Running power wire through the firewall
I am about to install a stereo in the Ac. I have usually drilled holes in the firewall to run my power wire. Is there any place that I can run my power wire through the firewall without drilling any holes? Pictures would be very helpful. The gauge for the wire is 2.
I tried following a write up here about a gromment in the center of the firewall you can pull out and run the wire though.
Well I tried that and I couldnt fish the wire to a point where I could grab it from the interior. ( Maybe I should of used a hanger)
Instead, I passed the wire through an existing gromment where I guess the main wires come in through. You can just put a flat head screw driver in between the rubber and metal so it could expose a gap for you to push the wire through.
I ran an 8 guage and it fits. Wonder how much bigger the 2 would be.

Do an advanced search on "firewall" (searching only thread titles) and only in this sub forum (Third Generation TL (2004-2008) > Audio, Bluetooth, Electronics & Navigation) and you will find a thread from 2006 with pictures.
on the drivers side to the left of the brake pedal.
Once your in there you'll see the rubber boot and the wires coming from there to your fuse box I believe. I'll take a picture later on when I get home from work.
