Rockford Fosgate Sub Punch Stage 3

I have only one Rockford Fosgate sub that has 500 w (RMS) continous 1000 w peak and getting a Kenwood amp 500 w (rms) and 1000 w peak power and sealed box. Haven't hooked them in my car yet becasuse I'm waiting for the amp to be shipped tomorrow and getting dynamat, but what I was wondering will one sub knock hard where people outside can feel the bass hit them too?

honest answer

I have a 10" RF Phase 3....to be honest it was a good starter sub, but there is much better for the money.

Check out www.caraudio.com and look at their subwoofer section. Great wealth of knowledge there. GL!

If you want louder go for a slotted port box. Then you will be ok. Will still sound great without the port noise and go pretty low they are tuned well.

SOMEONE HELP. I dropped my car off at Bestbuy excited about getting my Rockford Fosgate sub Dual Coil Over punch Stage 3 that can push 500 rms continous and 1000 w peak installed in my car. Also have a Kenwood amp

Specs:

Kenwood Amp # two-channel car amplifier specs
# 170 watts RMS x 2 @ 4 ohms
# 250 watts x 2 RMS @ 2 ohms
# 500 watts RMS x 1 bridged output at 4 ohms

The tech called me and said that the amp I purchased wont be able to power the sub because its a dual coil over sub and that i needed a mono block sub. He said I would have to buy a new sub he told me about a ALPINE 12 inch single coil over Sub that Handles up to 600W peak power (200W RMS) this costs $150.00. I asked people on here and they all said the amp would be ok. Does this make any sense to you guys. please I need advise.

With the installation of dynamat, 8 guage wires, putting the sub in box, he has to install the amp on the flap in the trunk that lowers down if I wanted to put skis or anything long thru that spot. The amp was too big to be put under the passenger seat. Everything is going to cost $450-$475.00.

What is the ohm rating on the dual voice coil sub. 4 ohms per voicecoil? or 2 ohms?

Question

Maybe you should have done you're homework before buying stuff....

First - It's not "Dual Coil Over", it's Dual Voice Coil.... That's what the "DVC" on the Rockford box means.

Second - Sealed boxes offer much response and tighter bass, but for the most part, they need TONS of CLEAN power to get nice output. For what you're looking to do, Big, boomy, inaccurate bass!!, you want a ported box.

Third - It sounds like you're a 'numbers' buyer..... If the speakers say, "1000W Peak RMS", you associate that with how loud it will play. Sorry.... It's what the manufacturer rates the speakers to safely handle. Some manufacturers underrate their products, some overrate it.

For what you want to do.... Play music loud enough for people outside the car to feel it, I'm not sure why you would go with 1-10" sub and a small Kenwood amp.

I've sold my fair share of mobile audio and I know for a fact, that what you have will not do what you want it to do.

Good luck though..... Make sure Best Buy uses enough lube......

Heres what you should do... Return Everything!

If on a budget:
1.) get a single 12" alpine type r d2 subwoofer remember when you have one sub you need D2 not the D4 that is easily found in bestbuy

2.) If you want more BOOM out of the sub get a ported box which can easily be found in bestbuy from Q-logic.

3.) Amp: get a good alpine monoblock amp that pushes at least 600rms for the sub, (NEVER go cheap on the AMP !)

Want good quailty subs and would like people to hear you come around

1. JL audio 12w6v2 in a ported enclosure with a JL 500/1 slash amp
