Charging it while using audio interface is a wiring challenge I bet.
Is there enough of a gain to be had by trying this? I mean properly mounted and removable.

I am planning on doing this to my TL....What i was thinking is to replace the HU (CD/Tape/Display) with the ipad and have the temp/time/etc on the vent display as in the Nav models....

but to find out the vent display is wired through the main unit....so you will have to keep the screen so that you can display the temperature and other stuff....

and you would need:

This dock will allow you charge ur ipod and get stereo/video out functions

2> preamp/amp

if the $$$ goes well, I should have this by end of the year....

 

The sub-display also needs the navi unit for some of it's display. The display has the hvac circuitry so you need to retain that as well. You could find someone with a broken unit and just have the two boards stashed somewhere.

yup...saw someone at the KC meet who was running something like that....he had a double DIN and had cut up the display....very clean job thow !!!
