I was wondering if anyone had tried to replace the homelink module?
i would like to find and buy 2008 tl homelink module and put it in my 06 tl. that seems to be the only fix for getting my car to open my driveway gate.

just wondering how hard and maybe the price tag

 

Just out of curiosity, does your bluetooth calling work and the gate buttons don't?

 

I've never heard of the homelink going bad.

the homelink is located within the overhead console so you can't just buy the "module" for it.

The overhead console is around $70 used on ebay.

SUPER easy to swap out. I believe it's held in by clips.

Some cars I was like "yeah this is definitely not programming, guess the garage opener isn't compatible". It turned out to be something stupid like misread instructions or the remote I was using from the garage to pair wasn't in "pair" mode.

 

homelink has not gone bad everything works in the 06 and 08. the problem is the gate opener programmed instantly with the 08TL but will NOT program in the 06 TL. I assume they have a different module firmware or something so i was thinking about just swapping out mine with a a module out of an 08 TL.

 

this might be an "of course i did" answer but did you clear the homelink before trying to program?

 

oh yea full reset. i know what the issue is. homelink is 399 mhz +/- some.
my gate is 433.92mhz. but obviously my 08 will work with 433mhz where my 06 will not so i was thinking just change out the home link module
