All of my HFL worked exccept my phone wouldn't pair either. In 06 RL it is right behind the passenger kick plate. Only need to remove side trim and trim under glove box (no need to remove glovebox). Found replacement 39970 SJA on ebay for $80. Before it arrived I wanted to make sure I could get in and find it which turned out to be quite easy. I unplugged the unit and plugged in back in to see if this might reset it and sure enough it started working fine again. Might want to try this before you invest.
