Replace All Front Speakers in 2006 TL
I need to replace all my front speakers in my '06 TL, but I don't know the specifications, wattage, etc.. What do I need to know when replacing the 2 tweeters in the dashboard, the Center speaker and the 2 speakers in the front doors?
any help would be appreciated.

First, you should know this is a bit more complicated than buying new speakers and dropping them in them. That said, it is still a relatively easy project.
If you take off the door panels you will find that the stock speakers sit in a large plastic bracket that snaps onto the door. Since the stock speakers are an awkward shape, it will be next to impossible to find a replacement speaker that will fit in the stock bracket (if its out there, I don't know about it). The common solution that is used by many people on this board, myself included, is to cut out a larger hole on the door using a rotary (dremel) tool with a metal cutting wheel. Then you can make a new bracket out of 1/2" mdf board and mount the replacement speaker in that.
The tweeters are easy. You can pop the grill out with a small flathead screw driver and the whole tweeter assembly comes right out. Most aftermarket replacements will drop right in with little-to-no additional modification.
One other thing to mention is that the stock sound system is 2ohms and most aftermarket speakers are 4ohms. It will be hardly worth replacing the speakers if you plan on leaving the underpowered factory amp.
Hope this helps.

no they are all 4ohm or 2ohm. the speaker i hate is referring to is 2ohm because its a bridged connection in parallel between the 3 speakers... each speaker would be between 7-8ohms a piece. so if u decide on plugging in the 63.7 or 63.9 make sure u disconnect the tweeter up top in your dashboard otherwise your going to have 1ohm and your stock amp will clip at high volume or it wont even put out volume.
