Here is what my account says online:

Services

OEM XM 3 Month Trial Service

GM Winback Special 1 Year MYP

XM Service - 1 Year

The XM Service - 1 Year is because I have first year $60, 2nd year 9.99 so total of 2 years, + my 3 month...

So I guess this win back promo thing is something from GM? It says GM?

When I was doing the $60 for 1 year thing, she asked if I wana lock my 2nd year in for 9.99 so that when my first year up I dont have to pay the new $12.xx a year. I said sure why not... I figure I can always cancel it after my 60 year if another promo happens... and then just add back on...

So first year 60, 2nd 9.99/month. Or you can just add all up and split by 24 month and say I am under the 9.99 a month still... Either way better then paying monthly...

I (maybe others) thought your were getting a 2nd year for 9.99 (you mean 9.99 a month for the 2nd year)...thanks for clearing that up...

Just called, got on the $60 for 1 yr plan. I just asked to see if the $60 promo still worked because I had received a "post card" on it. hehe. He switched me to another department and the next CSR looked to see if I was on the trial period. Once he saw that I was, he hooked me up. sweet.

$60 win-back offer still good as of 3/10/05! No hassle at all, and no special "code words" needed either. :-)

Worked fine for me. Called 1-800-929-2100 30 minutes before they're closed. No hold no waiting. A sleepy sounding guy answered the phone, asked me the code, my radio ID, my CC #, and that's it. No more than 5 minutes... The subscription will start after my trial period ends in April 2.

Damn... I hope I don't miss out on this. Does anyone know how long this promo is supposed to last??

I am still shopping and probably 2-3 weeks away from closing the deal on my vehicle (long story- don't ask).

Sure hope the deal is still in place when I get it!!

Either way- thanks for the tip! This site rocks

When I spoke to them yesterday, they told me there was no expiration set on this promotion, but it was intended for people coming off of free trial periods, such as our Acura offer. I asked if the rate increase would affect this (my trial period does not expire until May 11), and he said no, a retention promotion would still be offered. Further, he suggested that there were various 'long term' offers that could offer me favorable rates over the increased rate. I expect he meant a 2 year agreement? I did not get further details.

Regardless of what I was told, I plan to call back periodically to try and lock in another year without losing my trial period. It seems a bit too inconsistent with the renewal, extension and retention offers floating about. It is beginning to sound like cell carriers...the louder you scream or the more annoying and persistent you are, the more likely they will finally offer you valid customer service. I just hate to do business like that.

That is EXACTLY what I wanted to hear.

Thanks for letting us know what you heard TampaMike!

If anyone hears about the details of these other "various long term" offers, please post them here for us to know about.

I hear ya, it sucks that they make us jump through hoops like that... but then again, we can look on the bright side: at least we know (thanks to this wonderful board) exactly WHICH hoops to jump through.

There are still a lot of businesses/services out there in which no matter how loud you scream- you'll never get a better deal (or better customer service) than Joe Blow off the street.

Nice to have the inside scoop.

Thanks again!

Got it too!
Hey folks,
Jst got the $60 deal. No prob. I was told that i couldn't reserve a second year at ANY price, not at $60, a year, not at $9.99 a month, not even at $12.99...she said there was no way to reserve a second year when the first year was the $60 deal.

I plan ta call back in the next week or so and see if i can add the second year at $9.99.

later! and thanks so much to the board for saving me $60!

I called on Friday 3/11/05 and said I was interested in the $60 winback offer. She said no problem and signed me up with no questions asked. My free trial period expired 2/28/05 and I had not called prior to Friday so I don't know how that played into it.

Since my car has the XM tuner built in I don't think I will ever go back to FM radio unless XM becomes rediculously priced. Friday morning, I was driving to work listening to FM. Heard one good song and then after the song a couple of idiots came on and started the usual banter. I checked about ten other stations across the dial and not a single one was playing music. At that point, I realized how much I missed the XM not to mention that the digital sound quality is excellent. Not to mention MLB baseball, comedy, news, etc.

Thanks to all that contributed to this thread.

Another happy customer.

Hi guys. I called XM tonight. I received the $60.00 deal for 1 year after my trial ends (April 30) I also paid $214.99 for the next 2 years. $7.64 a month for the next 3 years.
It was easy. I asked for deal YMMV. No Problem no questions.
A good value. She also told me that ALL current premium content including playboy and INTERNET will be included after April 2nd. Cool.
I like XM. It has changed the way I listen to radio. I don't. I listen to XM. Broadcast FM radio sucks in comparison.
The future of radio defiantly includes XM radio in some form.

As of 3/14/05 the deal is still good. The rep i talked with said "as long as you mentioned this deal I can give it to you...where did you hear about this?..."

my response -- "my dealership told me about this great deal....blah blah blah"

thanks everyone.

wonder if some corporate memo or something came out recently to allow people calling in to get this deal now...maybe hoping people will forget to cancel the membership when the year is up...guess I am seeing too many conspiracy theories elsewhere...

it is just odd that just a few weeks ago, it seemed kind of difficult to get the deal and now everyone is getting it (myself included) without any problems...

Wife just called and got the deal. I guess they don't want to piss off anymore people and potentially lose customers with the pending price increase.

Just got the deal. Called the number, gave my XM ID #, said that I wanted the winback offer for $60.00 a year. And in less than five minutes I was done. Thank you all for the info.

Didn't work
I just called and the guy from XM said that because my trial period ends in May I can not take advantage of the offer? I told him that the dealer told me about the deal and he gave me a story about Acura subsidizing the cost and was worried that Acura would not authorize the subscription. Suggested that I call back at the end of my trial period to subscribe.

Anybody else run into this? How soon can I call again to get hooked up?

Third times a charm! I just called for the third time, this time no problem. Got the $60/year and locked in the $9.99/month for the second year.

Bought my TL on March 11, 2005 and used the same code on 3-16-05 to get the $60.00 deal. It was no problem to get the offer (he just had to check with a manager). Prices go up on XM on April 1, 2005 to 12.95 month. Not a bad deal for 15 months of service!

I talked to 3 different people at XM,, they kept checking with other people and they would NOT give me the $60 win-back deal and said I needed to wait until my trial period expired and MAYBE I would be offered that deal then. Well the service is nice, but after hearing about all the other people that have gotten the deal, If they don't offer it to me they can stick their service up their SAT tower.

I Got It!
I spoke with the nicest lady at XM - Joetta. I schmoozed her big time and she was happy to give me the 1 year for $60. I do not think it is a matter of having a code, it is a matter of getting the right customer service person.
If at first you don not succed try and try again.

Tried this twice and got the same message both times...

"You need to have been an active customer for at least 5 months prior to using this offer"

Also

"You can't use this offer while still on the OEM Trial Period, Call back at the end of the the 3 months"

Of course, there is no telling if the offer will still be good then, but I'll try anyway. You never know...

Just got it too....
A month after I bought the car my XM turns off...so I call in and get the 90 days initiated, and thanks to this site also talked the sales rep in to the OEM deal. So 16 months for $60. Not bad at all.

Welcome to the forum.

Congratulations.

This XM office really makes me wonder if they have communication problems... why some of Reps could give $60 deals out, but others refuse to do so...

I assume all the 800 calls will go to the same and the only one XM center...

I've been on hold for 52 minutes now...still trying! Which prmo did you ask for? YMMV or WINBACK? What a hokey operation.

Done!
Amazing!

I was on ignore for eternity with 1-800-998-7900.

So I checked northjerseyacura's posting (while on hold) and tried the number he posted... 1-800-682-4114 and got through in seconds. Just said I wanted to extend my XM subscription for one year at the $60 offer (did not mention ANY promo) . He said fine, took my XM number, AMEX number and said it was effective after my free trial for one year(now thru May 15th, 2006). Just like Nextel.... DONE <chirps>.

northjerseyacura is da' man!

After calling the other 800 # twice, talking to three people and being told I could not do that until my 90 day free trial was up.. I tried the provided by NJA, 800-682-4114. This # did not make me go through the MENU selections, it just went right to a perosn. He seemed a little slow and repeated himself quite a bit, but when told them I just bought an Acura TL and had been told by other TL owners I could lock in my first year at $60,,, The first thing out of his mouth was "I can do that for you."

Tax for Florida was different, mine came to 67 total.

The 800-682-4114 nuimber is the way to go!! I only had a 2-3 minute wait, and the XM rep didn't even ask for a promotion number. He just charged my credit card $60.00 (no taxes!) and I'm good to go for the next year. I LOVE THIS BOARD!!!!

I just called at 10:25pm central time and got the $60 offer too (in less than 5 minutes). She asked me the promo code so I just said "winback." And she was like okay. All she asked for was my XM radio code, address, car type and cc info. Rates go up April 2nd so call asap to get this rate. I might call before this month is up to lock in 2 more years (at 214.99, like someone posted on page 14). This will make the monthly fee $7.64 (($60+214.99)/36). I wonder if they will let me do 2 more years at the $60 winback promo? Hehehe. I had been without XM for like a week Now I am all Yea!!!!! This forum kicks ass!
