Remote start w/ factory key fob how to???
Remote start w/ factory key fob how to???
Ive been searching for a while and so far what Ive found out is it IS possible to hook up a remote start using your factory key fob with the DEI 561T Valet system. I couldn't find a real "how-to", but Im sure I could figure it out once I order it and get the wiring diagrams... Now that its freezing balls outside Ive decided to do this mod to my car- so what Im wanting to know is there already a how to on this that I just haven't been able to find? If not- would anyone be interested in me making one once I do this?
Ive been trying to see if a solution was ever found to the problem people were having of not being able to unlock/lock the car once the remote start was engaged with the engine running- I couldn't find a definite solution for that either. Also has anyone figured out a way to extend the short ass range of the factory fob? I'd have to do something with that too because mine only works from like 50' away max...
If you have this remote start or have any info please feel free to chime in, Id like to get as much info together as possible before getting started. Thanks

You sound like me 2 years ago. I bought the 561T system. Bought two of them in fact. Wouldn’t work for crap so I hope the Avital is a much better product. I doubt you’ll find any info on how to boost the range of the factory fob on this forum. More range equals more power either to the fob itself or the receiver under the dash. The time you spend researching and performing trial/error at the risk of messing up your TL, you could have bought an aftermarket system pre-built with two-mile range plus other features. I’m sure that’s the general consensus here.
If you still want to go through with this, there is a way to use your fob while the car is running. Here’s info I got years ago.
The yellow wire mentioned runs to the fob receiver (BECU) underneath the dash right above the brake pedal. Can’t miss it. When the car is running, the wire becomes energized basically telling the receiving to stop accepting any commands from the fob. What you would need is a 30-40 amp SPDT relay. Cut the yellow wire and make the connections mentioned above. I always wondered if the relay was necessary since cutting the wiring would mean the BECU would not know the car was running. Guess it prevents throwing a code or something. Since the 561T didn’t work for me and I now have Viper, guess I’ll never know. Don’t really see PeterUbers around here anymore but he was chockfull of info about this. Couldn’t hurt hitting him up or searching for his DIY

Yeah I read about that yellow wire thing in all the old threads I found while looking for info. So you could never get the 561T to work with the remote start at all??? Thats weird, how much time/money did you waste? The only reason I was thinking about going with this is to save money, Im fine with the stock alarm system I just want remote start- The Avital 4003 is only like $65 and I can get a relay for free... I guess Ill keep researching, I almost ordered the 4003 last night- Im glad I waited. Thanks a bunch for the info
