Remote Start for Christmas?

My question is if I have a remote start system installed, will the key fob that comes with the remote start system still be compatible with all the features the acura key fob has such as radio presets and seat memory positions or do I have to give all of that up? So basically if I hit unlock via the remote start system key fob, will the vehicle still register me as "Driver 1" and give me all my seat settings and radio station presets?

Which remote start system do you guys specifically have that allows you all options (memory, radio presets) as well as the features of the remote start system?

The car remembers the last key that unlocked it. So if you are the only driver unlock it with the one you want, then just use the remote start transmitter from then on and all the stuff will stay the same. If 2 people drive w/ different settings you are outta luck. All of the driver memory stuff is controlled via data through the factory keyless section of the BCM. There is no interface I am aware of that will recreate this data.

As far as systems I am a big Compustar fan.

I'm not sure that's true, at least for DEI models and/or DEI compatible databus interface modules....

As far as retaining seat memory, etc. for a single driver, I have a DEI R/S with the canmax400dei module and all of my memory functions are controlled through the DEI remote, just as they were/are with the OEM keyfob. I believe this is more a function of the databus module (i.e. the canmax) than the R/S system itself....

You are correct. It is a function of the interface. Does the DEI allow you to assign a driver number to the aftermarket transmitter? Or program the interface to recognize a transmitter as 1 or 2? That would be the only way.

I'm using the Viper Smart start which uses an Iphone app and GSM signal to start your car anywhere (limitless range). It's only a car starter and not an alarm system so you're still using the stock Acura alarm which means your keys still work. The only downside is that there's a yearly fee of $30, which is really nothing considering we have to pay $70+ a year for XM.
