Hi Rob,

I installed a Compustar 2WSS-AS in my car. It's very full-featured and reliable. It has a range of something like 1.5 miles under ideal conditions and it's bi-directional.

I was able to hook it up to disable and enable the factory alarm, and even roll the windows/sunroof up and down. I'm having a small technical issue with the windows thing, but I'll figure it out.

Oh and if you're planning on doing the install yourself, don't tap into the dome-light wire for door sense which is what most TL references say to do. Instead, diode-isolate the four individual door sense wires from the switches. They all terminate at the fuse box.

Hey there,

I bought mine on eBay. It came with an extra (uni-directional) remote and a couple other little things, and I think I paid $279. It was almost a year ago, so I don't remember exactly.

But they are on eBay all the time... here's one for example.

If you're doing the install yourself and need tips, let me know. I've had the car in pieces and know the wiring decently well.

Rob

Well here's what I managed. I fire a pulse at the memory seat 1 button which basically tells the car that it's DRIVER 1 who is unlocking the car and sets the seat into the right position, and sets the mirror into the right position. I'm not sure if it sets the radio and climate control settings. That I haven't verified.

But there's no way to activate driver 2 since the alarm remotes don't send out some kind of signature. But I'm the only one who drives my car, so it's all good.
