Rearview camera

Hey everyone,

I was talking with Dom from TVandNav2go and he was telling me that he offers two kinds of backup cameras. One is the type that most people on this forum have been using which is drilled in between the two license plate lights near the license plate but he said he's also offering another one that is bolted underneath the bumper. This one requires no drilling and he said that the camera is completely hidden from view.

I haven't seen anyone on this forum go the second route though so I was wondering if this was still a good option to go.

Any setbacks to doing it this way?

yea... if your camera is not pointing down, you do not have the reference of the bumper. So it would be harder to judge the distance.

actually no....I haven't seen what the second option looks like anywhere. No one on the forum from what I've seen has attempted it yet.

I want to get the nav to dvd box, and I am local to Dom, so I was thinking of dropping my car off and letting them do everything, maybe I will have him install the rear view cam as well. I will see if the second option is any good.

DeadLock, you ever get this install done? I just went with the camera that everyone on the forum has been using from E-Bay. It works great!

Did you get your camera off eBay or through ITL? I'm looking to get one. If not, I'm going to go with the Pioneer camera.

The only problem is that I would like it be recessed above the license plate a little more. Not sure if it's possible. Anyone else have the Pioneer camera installed?

I got the camera off E-Bay that most people on the forum have been using. It's the original one from kennyc's thread.

I was thinking about getting the Pioneer one but I realized that there's no way to make it nearly invisible and clean looking. Kinda like your picture, I don't like how it's visible and bulging in the license plate area. The one I got off of E-Bay is completely hidden. So far, I've had no issues and it works great!

I fixed it by prying the lense off, applied clear silicone sealant in the channel and then reinstall the lense.

no problem after that.

I just got this camera installed and I've washed my car a few times already. So far I haven't had any issues but ever since I saw this thread, I always spray very cautiously around the camera area just in case. Better safe than sorry!
