Has anyone spliced into the center console acc outlet? I was exploring inside my console and found that the bottom comes out... I really don't want to run a wire all the way to the fuse box if I don't need to.

I think in order to access the wires easier, you'll need to pull the 2 aluminum trims off, then remove the 4 screws that hold the cup holder molding, then remove the cup holder molding itself.
The 2 bolts located on the bottom of the armrest console is basically used to just hold the console in place. Removal of these 2 bolts just allows the armrest console to be slid back, BUT you still have to remove the 2 aluminum trims (as well as a couple of screws) in order for the armrest console to be allowed total freedom to slide back.

Hey Kenny. I'm getting the same camera installed that you got (also with Dom's Navi converter & dvd 8500) .... but what is that top piece? How and what did you use to fabricate that little thing? Did you have to have it there?

that is actually part of the plastic piece. All I did was trim it off.
Here's a pic...
You will see what I did once you take off the trim piece.

Has there been anyword on a "group discount" for back-up cameras? I've been looking into this for my 2G TL-S. I thought about getting the Inspire Spoiler with the built in back-up camera but I've heard they are hard to come by and very expensive, so I will go this route also.

Also on the fence about where I'm going to get the money.... from my ass or thin air. Overheard someone mention it being picked from a tree also.

Blitz, if you find a tree that has $$$ or can figure a way to pull it out of thin air please let me know...I'd like to get in on that. As for getting it from your ass, it's all yours, but if you want to use that money to buy me something...I'd be okay with that. Have you seen my VA Beach meet thread...check out my sig, there's a link. Pass the word if you can.

Has anyone used this camera that Wendy sells? Link Here
It seems smaller than Wendy's other cameras and I like the fact that it has a metal housing instead of the plastic the others are made out of. I'm kinda concerned about the water issue that happened to the previous installs.

The descriptions for both units state that they meet the IP67 standards. I think that Wendy may have just used the wrong term in the description.
In my mind, a solid metal housing makes better seals with rubber washers than flexible plastic housings. My concerns with the metal unit are 1) Lux rating is listed as 1.5 whereas the other units are 0.5 and 2) even though the unit has smaller dimensions, the way the bracket attaches makes it look like it may stick out more.
It's a little less expensive than the other units.

Need help with FuseBox Power Wire Install
I am good at everything but electrical! Someone mentioned picking up a mini fuse "add a circuit" pigtail. Autozone,Murray's, Advanced Auto do not have the mini.
My questions are this for those of you who wired to the fusebox:
1. Where to find this mini add a circuit.
2. Where to plug it in. There are several open fuse plugs but not sure where to start. Do I just plug it in and connect the wires? Or do I take the fuse panel out and connect the wiring in the back?
3. Any pictures would really help...
Thanks everyone for chiming in...

Fuse 32 which is power for your radio, HFL, NAV etc., It's powered with ignition .
Pull the fuse in slot 32 and plug the add-a-fuse in that slot. The 7.5A fuse that you just removed gets plugged into the add-a-fuse and another fuse is added to it for your extra circuit that your are trying to send power to.

Does anyone have a shop recommendation or person for installation in the bay area? Preferably something in the south bay like San Jose. I've ordered the backup camera and dvd2nav pnp, and I don't want to mess up.

I'm getting close to ordering a camera (ordered Dom's this morning) and can't decide between the new camera list above (not the drill mount one) and the one used previously by many people.
The new one isn't as deep but I'm wondering if that actually might be an issue because the lens will be further up into the license plate well and may show more of the area around/above the license plate and therefore may require more grinding/removal or you may not be able to remove enough to have an unobstructed view due to the silver metal trim.

Why are you running power from the fusebox?
Yo could easily splaice into the power for the nav system right there in the trunk, and that circuit is already on a fuse...
That's exactly what Dom's PNP units do, via the PNP harness.
And yes, that power is fine for your DVD too... None of this equipment is a high current draw. You'll hurt nothing using the same power source.

Did you get the PNP harness?
I will be installing mine this weekend and was only planning on running power from the fuse box, wires to the front for a switch for the future reverse camera (to be able to turn the reverse camera on at any time), and the wires to the front to extend the switch for video 2 for doms.
Is this what other people are doing?

- All the white wires, the power (-), (and the green if you want to be able to watch movies while rolling) go to ground.
- Blue wire goes to the reverse light (+), as does your reverse camera (+).
- switch power: This thing takes very little amperage to operate (about that of a radar detector, which can run on batteries). I plan to splice directly into pin 2 of the NAV units 8 pin connector (switch acc power-red wire yellow stripe).
The NAV is already on a fused circuit, so splicing doesn't place either in danger.
It's not a bad idea to run a seperate circuit out of the fuse box, but it's way overkill. If this thing had some significant power draw, I'd run a seperate circuit too, but there truly is no need.
