I just E-mailed the seller of that camera on eBay and she said that she would offer us a discount if we all purchased the camera from her. Based on Kenny's pictures it looks like a pretty decent camera. The price on eBay is $119 and I would assume we would get a nice discount if enough are interested. Is anyone interested?

I could be interested depending on how good the group buy was..... problem being we would have to act fast as the group buy for Dom's unit ends in 4 days. Would not get one w/o the other.

How is the camera actually secured to the bracket? is it easily removeable so that someone with a phillips could just cut the wire and walk away with the camera?

I just e-mailed her again to let her know there is a good amount of interest. I'll try to get prices based on the numbers we have so far and see how low the price will get depending on how many buy.

Dom's group buy does end in 4 days but I am definitely going to get in on that group buy even if the camera deal isn't sealed by then. No matter what I want his unit and will eventually get a camera. Hopefully this works out well though.

Kenny...I already told her that you sent me Expect a PM from me soon...I need to ask you a lot of questions about the install, I hope you don't mind.

Cool Group Buy For Camera On Ebay

I talked to Wendy ... that girl with the small camera that Kenny has. She said she would only do a 5% discount and maybe free shipping on a group of 3+. Which for all you non-math wizards would only be $6.00 off the camera and then you'd save like $15 shipping. You might as well get it on your own, haha. I am.

Maybe she'll work something better for a huge group deal, but that's all you guys.

Umm...why would you get it on your own if you would save $6 + $15?

Anway...so she just replied to me again and said that right now she only has 5 camera's in stock and would sell them for $110 plus shipping. I am trying to find out how long it would take to get more in. I'll keep you all updated.

I would be interested also. It should be a better deal than 110 plus shipping though, with this many people interested IMHO

Sounds/looks awesome! I'd like to get in on the deal. Maybe shop around for the camera. since stock is low.

As I understand, you need the camera and the video interface.

I didn't see the price on the interface box, but the Camera = $100+.

Power (and video connections) could be easily connected within the trunk.

Possibly only a few hours work.

I will keep this thread for further updates.
Thanks for the idea!

Ps. My wife wanted the proximity sensors when I got the car. This is better!

Doh! Found the price for the TVandNav2go, $125.

Checked eBay and found cheaper cameras too ~$70.

it came in a white box, but per writing I can tell it's made in Taiwan.

Shoot me a pm w/ the link and see if I can tell.

Here's dom's video box groupbuy in the groupbuy forum...

https://acurazine.com/forums/sponsored-sales-group-buys-10/%24125-tvandnav2gos-feb-navi-video-conversion-%24125-ends-march-31st-331406/

It's seriously not hard wiring everything up, the hard part for me was how to remove all the trims without break/tear them.

I settled on the one I used b/c of it's size. This is one of the smallest one I can find. There are a lot of cheaper cameras on ebay. But I figured if you want to do it, might as well do it right the first time!

Here's her last E-mail....

"We'll have more camera in 2 weeks. I'll notify you via email once they are here. $110 per camera is the best I can do for 5+. Our cost are very high since they are coming from Taiwan with Japanese parts. As you can see from Kenny's images, this is the smallest and highest quality CCD camera on the market today.

Available now, we have a similar CMOS camera that is smaller and the price is $105 ea. and volume pricing for 5+ is $95.00. Let us know if you are interested. Of course, the CCD camera Kenny suggested is still the better camera."

You were exactly right Kenny, they came from Taiwan. I am trying to see if she will make it $110 shipped for these 5. I also asked how many more she will get in two weeks and how low she would go (although it sounds like $110 may be the lowest). Like others have mentioned, I feel like we should be getting a better deal especially because there is so much interest. She is only charging $119.00 on eBay so either she is making very little profit on the ones on eBay or just doesn't want us to get a much lower price.

To KJSmitty....did you find out if it is the same camera? Hopefully it is and we can get a better group buy.

I'll keep everyone posted on any updates.

It's a misumi model MS-AC44R-N

Their website lists it in silver, but it looks to be the same camera.

It does look like this is the same camera but the only thing is it lists the View Angle at 150 degrees, but the one in the auction says 130 degrees.

I am still waiting to here back from Wendy on how many units she will be able to get. Has anyone else been able to find another source to buy this camera?

Again, I will keep everyone posted.

actually on the spec sheet that came with the camera stated in Chinese that the long neck (mine) is 150 where the short neck version (which I have not seen) is 130 view angle.

You need the 20pin one if you want to go pnp.

actually, there are more.

backup camera trigger + ground
handbrake trigger + ground (to prevent playing dvd when driving, I dont' think anyone would hook that up.)
manual switch for video input 1 (to watch dvd you need to manually flip the switch)

The 2 video inputs are on the other side of the box, along with the power wire.

basically with the pnp harness you unplug the 20 pin connector from the nav unit, plug the connector into the harness, plug the harness into the nav unit, then plug the DB9 to the video box.
