Really need some opinions on double din unit and sub upgrade!!

Well I have thought about replacing the stock head unit on my 07 TL-Base. But then again I am happy with the stock unit as I listen to my music through aux and XM which is enough for me.
I like the idea of having an aftermarket sub with pioneer unit but if I can replace the stock sub with an aftermarket, it will save me lots of time and $$.

I looked around on this forum and there were a few projects which offered bolt on aftermarket subs but they fell apart. Has anyone done this? and did you experience a lot of difference in the sound? I do miss the thump of an aftermarket sub.

What to do??? Again, I am happy with the stock unit but I need more bass!

Have not seen an aftermarket sub in stock location install that has worked out. Best to just add a sub to the stock system.

+1

Disconnect stock sub and add aftermarket sub. Some people remove the stock sub completely.

I have a 2007 type s and I don't think you can install a double din unit and keep your factory navi as well. That's what I was told at least

The head unit is fine. You're going to go through a lot of trouble installing a double din and I can't think of any justification for doing so. Might as well integrate a tablet at that point.

Also, you can replace the stock sub with a Kicker Comp or an Image Dynamics ID8. But don't expect much of an improvement, even with an additional amplifier.
