remove teh little cover for the child teather, remove the bolt for the theather. then go in the trunk and unplug the third brake light's , then go back in the car and lift up and pull towards you on the sub cover (i may have missed something in there since its beed over a year since i did it) now you have access to the sub

yes it is a "sub" because it only plays the lower bass frequencies. Its nothing like an aftermarket one, but it gets the job done for the majority of the drivers...I am sure as hell not one of them though!

well, i'm not putting anything in "place of it", i'm gonna have a box in the back. i actually don't have many parts yet, but i do have an hu, so the stock sub is useless at this point (lost it w/ the aftermarket hu), so imight as well get it out of the way now. plus, i might use it for my computer

this is how my car is...from inside the trunk, look under the back dash behind the sub. you'll see two plugs that look like oversized phone jacks. unplug them both. if you have the oem or oem style spoiler with a working LED, you won't need to worry about unplugging the third brake light since the one plug is what runs the spoiler brake light, the other is probably just tucked away...

Hey uncleb that's exactly what I would use it for is my computer. I also was thinking that I'd just use it for the usb wireless network adapter(for net access) and the GPS unit---great concealed spot for it huh!!!

how are you going to use a FreeAir sub with your computer? even a freeair sub needs some type of volume limit to operate properly and i doubt the room that your computer is in is one

It is better to have them face the rear of the car. But, I have seen setups facing forward and even up toward the rear deck.

brizzle, that's a cool idea

actually, what i meant is that i would use the sub, and put it in my room, since my room speakers are like 2" diameter. would the sub work fine if i box it? i know its supposed to be a free air.

although, now i thijnk about it, the stock sub area is a perfect place to put something....good thinking

It probably won't work all that well in that application. Also, how are you going to power it?

the stock "sub" is around 1 ohm. So, you can power it with any amp that can power a 1 ohm mono signal. From what I have heard, you might as well replace you stock sub and amp and get a new setup...The sound improvement from the stock system to my system is amazing. I dont recommend being cheep in this situation - trust me, it will make your everyday driving experience more enjoyable.

i really don't know, i mean, i figured since i'm going to take out my stock system, i might be able to box it and power it, i can probably use the same amps that were powering it in the car....i really have no idea though, i don't even know if i would be able to get the proper wiring. also, i don't know what source to hook it up to. its no big deal really, i just figured i could use the system for my room, and at the same time get some box building skills....i have no clue if a free air works well in a box though, and if so, what kinda box to put it in.

o yeah, i got a brahma and usamp 1000x that should hopefully be here soon.
mabye not the best of the best, but i did my best to find what deals i could, and this seemed pretty cost efficient compared to what i should hopefully get out of it....i'm a rook though, so i don't know how anything's going to turn out
