Realistically!

If I get a decent pair of Focals & an amp to power them, how much of a realistic increase in volume output can I expect from the system? I checked various threads & members seem to rant about quality (good/bad) rather than how much louder it actually gets. Reply at your leisure. Thanx in advance!

Depends how loud you want it and what focal you go with.

You'd want to go with a set that has a sensitivity rating of 91db+ @ 1w. That coupled with gobs of power will get you what you want

If you want to go even further, go the pro audio route, or multiple pairs of components

What Focals and what amp? What kind of budget are you on?

With a pair of K2Ps run active on a JL 450/4, you can get enough sound inside of the car to give you a very large headache and even do permanent hearing loss. Do you need more than this? I think that these were 93 db comps when they came out, but I cannot remember.

To me, "decent focal" means polyglass or above. I would consider the K2Ps that I noted a step above decent, though.

Just installed some Focal PS 165s (powered) and I cant turn the volume up past 30 without feeling that my hearing is being compromised. My gain is, no lie, at the lowest setting too. It is not distorting at this volume either.

With the way my tweeters are set up, even standing outside of the car sounds like a home stereo. Zero muffle.

@eggyhustles Thanx!

@Trunk Monkey around $700 - $800

@DiamondJoeQuimby don't remember model but they were around $300 and, you're right about the variables. Sorry. Some loudness is subjective. What may be noticeably louder to you may be too little or too much for me. I bump all my burned CDs on my CPU because I feel that our stock radio gives up too early. It's clean (besides annoying rattle from sub) but it should go to 65 or something. I came from an '06 Impala LT & that Bose yanked for an American stock. It was a little distorted near max but at least I felt like I was hearing my shit.

@jda123 Thanx. I'll give them a google.

@shtewps Sweet! Something like that may be what I'm seeking. I'll google that & price that out also.

I appreciate the time fellas. Thanx for taking it easy on ya' folk!
