Radio lights are gone.

Okay, i tried searching but did not find anything solid. i have a 08 TL-S and the radio lights are not turning on, or burnt out?.. The radio works and functions normally, all my other lights work (Steering wheel, navi, dash, etc.).

I have roughly 77K, and was wondering if this was normal for it to go out? Is there anything I can do short of resoldering or buying another radio? I don't use the buttons much on the radio but it looks weird since its all dark on the bottom portion after my navi buttons.

I bought extended warranty when i bought the car CPO, do you guys have any experience with the dealer when it comes to this issue? Kinda just looking at what my options are at this point or just leave it alone.. (since i think this might be common, but i thought the steering wheel lights and navi lights would go out more) I checked fuses but it doesnt make sense if the radio functions still, just the backlights are out.

Any input would be great, thanks!

Sounds like it's probably the bulbs. I have various bulbs burned out on some of the buttons and switches (passenger-side seat heater, sunroof switch, three of the four buttons around the instrument pod, VSA button). It's really quite ridiculous that they burn out so quickly in this car. Mine's a 2004 I bought new in August of that year; it hit 100,000 miles earlier this month. I've never had dashboard lights burn out in any other car I've owned, not even my current other car (a 1988 RX-7).

Unfortunately, extended warranties generally do not cover light bulbs because they're considered a wear item. If you just bought the car very recently, maybe you can try to get the dealer to fix it on a good-will basis because it's the type of thing they should have fixed before selling the car.

Thanks for the info, when i was searching this forum for similiar problems before i posted i noticed that people said the radio bulbs were soldered onto the board, so i don't really have experience with soldering and changing those out even if i wanted to..

From what I have gathered there are two types of boards in use one with soldered and others that the bulb can be pulled and replaced. I have the same problem and it is so annoying.

I have this same problem... but i have found that my radio lights flash when I turn the headlights off. It is only one brief flash. So i know that all of the lights work. i'm just not sure why they are not working at full brightness.
