Radio/CD Player Issues and Options

Hi guys,

My 06 TL non-nav radio started acting up a few days ago.

In the middle of playing a cd, it frooze. No sound. No response from anything, couldnt change the channell or swap cds.

Turned the car off and back on, then the radio began to work, and I was able to eject all 6 cds. However, as soon as I try to load any CDs, the radio system freezes again and it does not play any of the cds.

It only seems to work fine if I use the radio only.

Has anyone else had this issue and what is the solution??

And in terms of options, in case the cd changer is toast, is it possible to get a 07/08 non-nav radio and will it be plug and play on the 06? Think the 07/08 plays MP3s too so if I need to swap it out is that something I could do?\

Ofcourse thats if the radio is toast, Im on a budget so swapping it out is the last option - hope someone can give me some ideas.....cheers.

There are a couple of threads on this issue; so I don't know what you have read.

If you are trying to save money and don't want to buy a new or use one, I will suggest you check out cd4car.com

I had mine fix by them ($200) and its been working great.

200 to repair...hmmm

Im getting the isimple kit for 179 which would allow me to forget about fixing the cd changer and just use the ipod with the steering wheel controls...

A dude in NY is willing to sell me his 08 Factory player for 350 - which is a good deal considering it plays mp3s, but Im not sure if it will be a simple plug and play if I swap my existing radio with the 08 version, and if my 06 wiring and harness would work - I dont want to butcher my car wiring.

Exclamation

Has anyone put a 2007/2008 radio in a 2006 Acura TL? Does it just fit in to the same harness, and is it plug and play or does it need to be reprogrammed at the dealer, or anything else???

You sure?

I was told on another forum that all I need is the 07 harness for the connection and it should work ?

^^

In short, Yes. It will work, all you need is the harness for the 2008/2007 TL. The wiring is identical and its plug and play. Lots of people on the forums have done the swap. I did mine as well. Get the radio code off the dealer before the install, and you should be good to go - also unlike the aftermarket radios, this one does not need any butchering - it fits like a glove.
