Question on voice recognition of nav system
Question on voice recognition of nav system
Hi, I'm new here. I am in the market for a TL and am trying to decide if it's worth the extra $$ to get an 07 vs an 06 or 05. An Acura salesman was demonstrating the nav system on an 06 to me and he showed me how to type in an address to navigate to. I asked if I could just speak the address and if the system would recognize it. He said no on the 06, but yes on the '07/08.
Can someone confirm that you can speak an address to the nav system and it will recognize and locate it?
Thanks,
Al

Welcome to Azine, cab 13367...i have an 08 NBP, and eventhough i haven't tried it on my Navi --> i'm (95%) pretty sure i've read it on the manual that you could do this...however, you have to spell it out --> ie. Johnson (J-O-H-N-S-O-N). Oh, and you have to be in a certain screen to do this as well...however, it's do-able. Someone correct me if i'm wrong.
From what many post here, there's a difference in the clarity of the screen from 04-06 to 07-08 models (07/08 navi models are more clear) Hopefully this helps!
Either or, the car is an awesome machine, with all the gadgets/technology built in...you can't go wrong! Good luck!

I have an 08 Type S and yes, you can speak in ADDRESSES. You speak the city name, then street name, then number, with a confirmation after each step. No need to spell it out in any of the steps. This is very cool, and everyone who is in my car when I use it is very impressed.
If you want to use speech for entering a POI, then yes, you do need to spell it out. It is absolutely pointless to use it for this since not only do you have to spell out each letter, but you need to confirm each letter as well. This can take forever.
